Re: Rubato Tempo mapping only with old-fashion Tapping-Method?

I agree, Stubbs, Tap Tempo is quite temperamental, but it can be tamed to a degree. As you point out, it doesn't like audio much... the less the better. It works best in small sessions, with mostly MIDI stuff, where Aux tracks are in a V-Rack (as opposed to in the chunk). If I ran it in a big orches...

Re: Rubato Tempo mapping only with old-fashion Tapping-Method?

Yes. DP has a few cool features to deal with tempo before and after the fact. Two of my favourites are conducting a performance in real-time, which creates a new tempo map (hello rubato performances). This is called Tap Tempo . If you already have a rubato performance in wild but want it notated per...

Re: Create loop from multiple tracks?

Let's say I have a full band recording (12 tracks or so). I'm currently looping a little bit to workout ideas. Basically just using start/stop points with the memory cycle button on, etc. Works great! However, I wonder... Is there a quick-ish way to create a real stereo mix of this loop? As opposed...

Re: Loop recording/cycle recording of audio not working?

That's right. When you invoke the Load command, you can choose what to load into your new project. Select the desired chunk and its soundbites. Also, load the Bundles if your new project is totally blank (otherwise clear them all before loading them or you'll have tons of duplicates. You can do that...

Re: Loop recording/cycle recording of audio not working?

It appears to be some sort of project corruption. I created a new Project, made a single mono audio track, and it loop recorded fine. Now what? I guess maybe I'll bounce out the material I'm overdubbing onto try doing it in a different project, but, wow. Before doing all that, I'd try Loading your ...

Re: Seeking new ideas / techniques for scoring with DP

Also I've never used the Song feature, it's been in DP for ages, does anyone actually use it? I use it a lot for solo piano projects. It has a lot of potential. The Song window works only for the simplest stuff, and you'll quickly meet its many frustrating limitations. It could be so much better if...

Re: Automatically set start time to counter

Would love to be able to set this. Where ever wiper/counter is, the Memory Start Time updates Am constantly hitting key command for Memory Start Time. Anyone heard of how to do this. Thanks Use F1. That'll set the autorewind/Memory start time to wherever the wiper is and start playback from there. ...

Re: Cool YouTube Video... using Dynamic EQ and Sidechain to make "space" for vocal

That's a great idea, and I was trying to find a setting that would do that. I would increase the release time, but that only delayed the moment that it would return to zero... not the rate at which it did. After a while of trying to do that with release time, it becomes apparent that there's also t...

Re: Cool YouTube Video... using Dynamic EQ and Sidechain to make "space" for vocal

By true duck mode I mean it would reduce the level without compressing the signal but simply lower it to a set amount (say -3 dB) as if you were manually riding the channel fader. For certain applications, it sounds better and more natural. Funny you say this. Your comment just posted as I was post...

Re: Cool YouTube Video... using Dynamic EQ and Sidechain to make "space" for vocal

That Dynamics plugin works well, but IMO it would benefit from a true duck mode added as a tab in there :unicorn: What is a true duck mode? Dynamics does gate, expanding, limiting and compression. it's my favorite MOTU plug in for this purpose by far. By true duck mode I mean it would reduce the le...

Re: Cool YouTube Video... using Dynamic EQ and Sidechain to make "space" for vocal

Except for the MW Gate, no MOTU plugin has sidechain inputs at all... :( The MOTU Dynamics plug in does have sidechain as well, the fact the dynamics EQ does not is big miss for sure. Trackspacer does exactly what the Cubase plug in does in the video though. Ha! You're right. I forgot that one. So ...

Re: Can you have the edit and mix windows function exactly alike?

If you press Ctrl-command-R, it will open the SE with ONLY the (previously) selected tracks showing, with a sensible zoom level. Same thing for the GE with Shift-G (I think those are default commands). Is ctrl-command-R perhaps a custom command? This doesn't do anything on my DP. I've been with Per...

Re: Cool YouTube Video... using Dynamic EQ and Sidechain to make "space" for vocal

Very cool mixing workflow. I hear EDM guys make extensive use of it. Melda has a very nice plugin that tells you which tracks are fighting each other and at which freqs. Tried to see if I could do this with the MOTU Dynamic EQ but I could not find anywhere to set a sidechain input on it? Except for ...

Re: How are People Printing Mixes (Routing) (Checking)

As has been already mentioned above, a good reliable template makes things so much easier and reliable every time. When there are a lot of mixes and stems to be printed & monitored/checked, I always do the following (which is preset in my template): * Print everything in real time (the sum of th...
