Re: New SSD: Did I mess up?
Hi, following up this morning.... Looks like I've got a good idea how to perform a clean install on the SSD (looks like I've got High Sierra in the can ready to go, and I was planning on updating anyway). Then Migration Assistant. Looking at the incredible bloat of my current internal disks' Applica...

Re: New SSD: Did I mess up?
Thanks guys, yes I think I should start over. When I boot up in my old internal drive I can see the SSD, but not vice versa. It's acting like two separate machines. Two things, then. Should I migrate from my MBP clone (pretty lean and mean), or from my old internal drive (more data than 1T, so can I...

New SSD: Did I mess up?
Hi, I just had a tech install a 1T Samsung EVO 850 drive in my 2011 iMac. This particular model had an extra slot for a hard drive so I kept the existing drive and DVD burner and added the EVO. I cloned my MBP which had a lean and mean series of installs and is working well. I cloned that file into ...

Re: MIDI Timepiece AV/USB not showing up
Just searched and found this thread after losing contact with my MIDI Timepiece AV/USB. Since I don't use my hardware synths for recording much these days, I only discovered this issue as I was setting up for a session with a client who wanted to record keys and vocals simultaneously. After a few mi...

Re: Drag Drop Weirdness
My daughter records in Logic. On occasion she has asked Dad to fix this or that. I always export the files — easy in Logic — and import them into DP where I'm more comfortable. Well at least I'm finding some real world use for Logic at long last....as a file conversion utility LOL! After a few mome...

Re: Drag Drop Weirdness
Thanks Mike!! I knew you would have the answer. As it happened I actually recorded the clarinet in Logic and just bounced the project to mp3 as well as the individual files to the desktop. Sounds great! Glad it was a simple project as I've never done anything in Logic except play with the lovely sou...

Re: Drag Drop Weirdness
Yes, I originally thought of that but I've used 44.1 forever and switched to 48 temporarily to test today no difference, 44.1 verified as doable when I called BnB support. Too late today for MOTU support. Again, the files played and loaded in Logic and also play back in iTunes when I click the files...

Drag Drop Weirdness
Hi, Was on a tight deadline for a cue so put a little Band in a Box file together quickly. I've done this tons of times but usually when I drag the files from the Band in a Box drop zone (wav or aiff) to the Tracks Overview, the files pop up in DP immediately ready to go. For some reason today I'm d...

Re: macOS Sierra 10.12.5 Combo Update
The local Mac expert said he could configure the new EVO 850 drive to make my current 2T boot drive function as a fusion drive, probably a good idea? Did he/she give a reason to do that? It's been awhile since we spoke, but I shall ask him soon.....been putting the installation off as everything is...

Re: macOS Sierra 10.12.5 Combo Update
The above instructions will show if it's enabled (yes) or not (no). If not, open Terminal and paste the following command: sudo trimforce enable Then Enter or Return. It will ask for your Admin password, type it and Return again. Recheck the status. I don't recall that Sierra gives you the dire war...

Re: macOS Sierra 10.12.5 Combo Update
As luck would have it, I decided to upgrade my computers from Yosemite on the day 10.12.5 came out. So far everything DP related seems to be fine. I did have my moments of panic when I couldn't open some downloaded software updates, so thanks for the threads on the terminal commands!! I plan on putt...

Re: Tip to avoid processor spikes in DP 9.13
Ok.....I am happy as ••••!!!!! Yes!!! I figured out my own work around by simply loading previous projects into a new 9.1.3 project. All my issues are gone. 9.1.2 as well as 9.1.3 simply did not like my template or previous projects created in 9.0 or even DP 8. All is good! Time to shake up a cold ...

Re: UNofficial Digital Performer Community bug list discussi
Major props to all of you on this page. Like the tone of the discussion just above. Robert and toodamn, thanks for trying to make DP as good as it can be while constantly being subjected to a barrage of insults by the usual thread derailers. And James, of course, you're a major reason why MOTU has e...

Re: Disk rot. Something else to worry about.
I actually plugged in a couple of my old Teac cassette decks not long ago to see if they still worked, and was reminded of the old bugaboo where tapes recorded on one machine may play back at a different speed on others. Fortunately my most recent deck (although purchased quite a while ago now) has ...

Re: Disk rot. Something else to worry about.
I've seen this fairly often in discs that were created in the latter part of the 20th Century (boy that sounds weird!!!). And, I always used the highest quality discs available. Add to that the deterioration of my open reel tapes and the demise of those delicate DAT players and the argument for wri...
