Assuming you are triggering the PC with MIDI from DP, can you use Time Shift to send the MIDI earlier than normal? This is from SOS in the case of a networked Mac. In your case I'd assume the latency is only half as much, but the principle would apply: "The way to deal with it is by using DP's ...

Can you remove all but the plug that doesn't work, play with that, and when it is working, put all of them back in, and skip the validation check?

This month and last month in SOS there are articles on running DP on networked Macs so both MIDI and Audio can be managed across multple machines. The configuration they use has a MacBook as a processor attached to a main DP based DAW. They discuss some of the anomolies that happen, as well as laten...

If you put this thread together with one from a few weeks back, one reason to put Peak, Quattro, Barbabatch, etc. between a DP export and the burning of a CD would be SRC if the original tracks are in anything other than 44.1K. DP and apps depending on QT show poorly in the SRC tests.

Found it. Used Terminal to look at the root directory of the startup drive, and there were authorization files for versions 4.5 and 5.0. Deleted these and all proceeded as expected.

Thought so. Just hoped someone would know so i don't have to wait until next week for answer. I can get it up and running ok, but anticipate that I'll have to start from scratch and do all the set up stuff again when this gets fixed.

How to Authorize over an older Authorization

My copy of DP 5.11 has at last arrived. I installed it this morning, and on launching, instead of asked me to enter a serial number or authorize it, it simply started up with someone's name, not mine, in the flash panel. My G5 was not new when I got it so I can only assume the previous owner had DP,...

So I'm gonna just walk this one. I hope we hear from Waves very soon.

Is the Waves problem specific to Intel, and V5? Or does it reach back to PPC and earlier versions (V4)?

Are there any scripting, macro, or automation functions that would do things like this, either in DP, or interacting with OSX? Any way to chain key commands and create new ones? Sorry, I can't figure this out myself -- STILL waiting for my copy of DP to arrive.

Fair enough. We blame Australians for everything the Danes didn't do.

Watch out for the defrag times with iDefrag. I bought it a couple of months ago but found it unusable as it was going to take as much as a day(!) to defrag a 60gb iBook drive. There is no demo worth speaking of - the demo they offer will only defrag a 100mb drive. Did you actually let it finish? If...

However, consolidating free space on the System/App drive seems to only become an issue when the drive is getting rather full - I have some 30% of the drive open, so I have plenty of large, free chunks for caches, etc. You're quite right. The key making sure you keep a significant piece of that dri...

On your startup volume, OSX only defrags files up to 20Meg as someone pointed out. It does NOT consolidate free space. It does not optimize the drive. On your audio drive or partition, assuming that it is not the same as your startup volume, OSX will do nothing at all. You should consolidate free sp...

For the price, the BCF2000 is fine. It's a bit noisy, but weird? How so? Not touch sensitive, but doesn't claim to be. And just whose control surface does it rip off? Can one of the people who use it with DP point me to step by step instructions on how to get it to work? I've followed the other thre...
