Re: So what exactly is the ultra-low latency time?

I can verify the statement about the MOTU 828 mk II not introducing noticeable latency vs. any of the MOTU USB MIDI interfaces, in regards to the demos I downloaded of Kontakt 2 and MOTU MX-4 (since there's no demo of Mach Five and I'm still debating buying it). It is in fact the improved MIDI perfo...

Re: Mac Mini and MachFive

I'm looking into this option too, but am inexperienced in setting up computer networks in the home, which is what I assume you have to do to make this work, correct? is this done via Firewire connection between the Mac Mini and the host computer? Does it affect the latency of the plug-ins compared t...

Re: DP 4.6 IS OUT

I haven't had time to catch up on the forum yet, but just logged in briefly to say "Thank You" to MOTU for giving us essentially a brand new MAJOR product release for free! I am absolutely blown away by all the new features in 4.6 (which I just learned about a few minutes ago -- I haven't ...

Re: DP 4.52 & Tiger = big joke ?

I guess there are always going to be specific matchups of OS and app that are more reliable than others, and apparantly DP 2.72(?) with OS 9 was one of those. I started with DP 3 on OS 9, and it crashed constantly. I have primarily seen incremental improvements with DP4.x and OS X, and have found th...

Re: Mach V versus Kontakt

Yikes, I guess you're referring to Dynamic Parts, which is a feature I just assumed was present in all notation products as a matter of course! That's a deal killer for me for Finale 2006 then, if it doesn't support it. I've gotten used to doing this with QuickScribe in Digital Performer, which I as...

Re: Mach V versus Kontakt

Thanks for the pointers. The info on having to do the handshake each session was from a sales agent at Guitar Centre who said he finally gave up on it as a result. Interesting comment on switching from Finale to Sibelius. Finale will now have full AU/VST integration; Sibelius will not. Not sure what...

Re: Before I download the DEMO where do I buy MX4 and how

Is this problem still current? I took one DP project to experiment with, and quite like what MX-4 did for some of my pre-existing tracks as well as a new overdub that I added. I was quite hoping that should I resolve the iLok issue (unacceptable inconvenience) and buy MX-4, that I could reopen that ...

Re: How does MX4 compare to NI Absynth?

I recently downloaded and evaluated MX-4, after having earlier evaluated demos for the NI products and the AAS products, along with the Nord Modular G2. The MX-4 blows them all away in my opinion, as far as general purpose soft synths go (vs. product-specific emulations). Great for pads, time-evolvi...

Re: Mach V versus Kontakt

Useful thread; just discovered this forum tonight after being a MOTU user for over three years. It was referenced in a Harmony Central review telling how awful Mach Five is. I was going to purchase Mach Five due to its more intuitive and natural workflow, sliders vs. rotary knobs for envelopes, and ...
