Re: Australia in Eurovision

Australia recently won the Asian Cup in soccer. Now it seems that Europe want us to win Eurovision (Melbourne is the second largest Greek city in the world - by population that is). There's no need for you Yanks to get your knickers in a knot (at least not just yet) - can't see us doing quite so wel...

Re: Scarecrow

I tend to agree BK. Those moments when they are a little more generous with the light are not quite enough for my taste. I think more could have made of the navy blue & golden barley tones, glistening fretboards and hairlines etc without loosing that sense of shadow-self which, I assume, they we...

Scarecrow

Here's a youtube link to the second video from an album I mastered last year. Hope you like it - once again: this bunch of young musos have never recorded before and I think there is some great work on this first release album. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=vcyIVzzcQfM

Re: Sunshine

Thanks guys - I had no control over the final sound - just layed down 4 stereo keyboard tracks at my studio using a rough guide and sent 'em off to the mix engineer :) - but it ended up sounding pretty good.... I like the guitar solo :)

Re: I found this interesting

Given what I've seen of your work, when I saw this video I actually thought of you BK :) Should have known you'd already be on to it.
Cheers,
D

Re: Video of 2015 NAMM MOTU DP9 Preview Demo

I'm happy about all the new features and improvements announced so far. Learn controller is by far the most exciting new feature for me - combined with good old chunks my live keyboard rig will be greatly enhanced. I've recently acquired a Nektar Panorama 61 note controller as second keyboard. I cho...

Re: The Top 10 Most Requested Features

It would certainly make the engineer feel snappier at a late stage in the mix :)

Re: The Top 10 Most Requested Features

In a complex mix where you already have channel fader automation, plug-in parameter automation yadda yadda, vca faders give you another layer of automation control which will address everything associated with the assigned channels without touching any of the other automations already in place. You ...

Re: The Top 10 Most Requested Features

Could someone explain VCA faders and why they are suddenly everywhere you look? I've made it 40 years in this business without ever really knowing about them, other than to see the name (rarely) in the odd article or post, but all of a sudden they're at the top of many lists of wants and needs. Why...

Re: Guitar/Vocal amp question

Have a look at the QSC K10 - for smaller audiences she may well be able to get away with one only - and because the unit has a simple 2 input mixer on board it may be that no mixer is required. If the L1/L2 seems an attractive option I would encourage you to look at the HK Elements system - you woul...

Sunshine

Here's a cover of a classic Aussie pop/rock song from the seventies - Sunshine by the great New Zealand outfit Dragon. The original was a local major hit for them back in 1977 - this version is a more bluesy rock treatment. I couldn't attend the studio sessions for this recording due to other work c...

Re: Magic Dave/Hal leonard DP book!

Yes - both books are current. This is from the product description for the first book: "This is the first guide to look under the hood of Digital Performer 8-the first version of the program manufactured for both Mac and Windows OS. In fact, this is arguably the most up-to-date and insightful g...

R.I.P. Joe Cocker

Joe Cocker, one of the greatest voices of our time, has passed away at age 70 following a battle with lung cancer. No longer in pain. Thank you for the glorious soulful music. "Such joy and happiness you bring".
