Re: Unisyn not displaying patch lists

MOTU MIDI Express 128 interface. These are my devices which are working with Unisyn: EMU Proteus/1, and Korg TR-Rack. At the school I used to teach at, the Proteus/1 was the device that usually worked well. The Korg was we had was the X5D, which was finicky, but usually a restart of Unisyn helped. ...

Re: Unisyn not displaying patch lists

Jim, What are your 6 Devices, and what MIDI interface are you using? There are a few things that could be wrong, at first glance. One is that Unisyn in is not generating the appropriate .midnam file for DP to use (which I know is an issue for some devices). The second possibility is that your AMS co...

Re: has anyone created a midnam for Kawai K5

Now I'm trying to create a midnam file in Library/Audio/MIDI Devices/MOTU so that Digital Performer will be able to pull up a patch list with my current sounds in it. Is the problem getting the names to show up in DP or is the problem creating the .midnam file? If it is the former, you need to put ...

Re: Digital Performer not finding newly created Unisyn patch

Sometimes DP will update, sometimes it will not. And it is not a bug in DP, but in Unisyn (specifically some of the profiles). Below I have detailed the path that DP looks for Unisyn patch lists. This requires going into the library folders, so if that makes you uncomfortable, then ignore the rest o...

Re: Unisyn: a Great MIDI Librarian for OS X

"Ease of Use: 6 As an instructor, I have had to learn to program to teach it. I praise MOTU for the feature set, but there are some very nasty bugs. One which has always struck me as unusual is the need to store a patch. I cannot tell you the number of times a student will work on a patch, for...

Re: Unisyn: a Great MIDI Librarian for OS X

The key is to do two things. One is change the Authorizaion file, The other is to change Unisyn itself and all support fules. cd ../.. chmod a+rw Auth-Unisyn\ 2.1 cd ../.. cd Applications sudo chown -R admin1:admin1 Unisyn\ 2.1\ Folder/ chmod -R u=rwx,g=rwx,o=rx Unisyn\ 2.1\ Folder/ where admin1:adm...

Re: Unisyn: a Great MIDI Librarian for OS X

Here is a review of Unisyn 2.11 I wrote back in June on harmony-central. I found that the OS 9 version was more dependable. Additions to my original review are in square brakets. Price Paid: School Purchase Ease of Use: 6 As an instructor, I have had to learn to program to teach it. I praise MOTU fo...
