Absolutely, I get that it would be useful, as it is now, for certain situations.
What I would love is more precision....leave all the options as they are currently but add the facility to be able to pin-point instantly what you'd like to 'snap', directly from the Sequence Editor.

If you have QT Pro 7, you can open the movie in that, then go to Window/Show Movie Properties... Select the sound track, and just click on the Delete button at the top left. Save or save as...
