Re: MOTU announces new 828 interface

I don't know, but honestly I would've been surprised if they added AVB to the 828 which has been around for a long time in many forms. Seems like when they started with the AVB systems they put them in a separate category altogether. I'm currently still using my 828x on an Intel Mac mini. Since I've...

Re: MOTU not exhibiting at 2024 NAMM?

It's a bummer, but totally understandable. A lot of the bigger companies started peeling away from trade shows even pre-covid. MOTU always had such an awesome booth. Couldn't have been cheap or easy to pull off. Even tho I didn't attend every year, it was always fun to meet up at El Torrito on Frida...

Re: MOTU HARDWARE AVAILABILITY - MIA

I've been wondering too. I've had my eyes on getting a 1248/24i combo for maximum external synth connectivity. I understand the supply chain issue, but I wonder if reports of failing units had MOTU think about a redesign? Anyway, my 828x still works fine so I'm good. BTW that new Arturia AudioFuse 1...

Re: CV Control

Hey I remember posting that :-) I don't come here as often as I used to. Seriously Silent Way works great if you have the hardware. I use it with my 828x, ALL outputs are dedicated to CV. I also added the Expert Sleepers ES-3 ADAT expander for 8 more CV outputs. So I have a total of 16 DC coupled ou...

Re: DP 11 in Macworld

Glad they mentioned the lack of any built in CV control for modular synths. It's becoming a standard with other DAWs. I've sent the suggestion to MOTU in the past. Seems like a no brainer since they have the tech from Volta (RIP) and so many of their interfaces have DC coupled outputs. Yeah, I've go...

Re: Thunderbolt 3 and 828x

I can confirm that my Mac Mini works without issue using the adapter and my 828x. I made sure lates drivers were installed, never had an issue. Even works with Big Sur.

New Mac Mini & Bluetooth

I've had my new Mac Mini for a few weeks now & love it. Got the higher end processor & 1TB drive with 8GB RAM. Did the OWC 64 GB RAM update myself. Worked out flawlessly. The only gripe I have is with my apple magic trackpad. I've got the original silver battery powered version. About every ...

Re: Catalina drivers for USB interfaces now available

So, deciding due diligence is required on my part, I looked at the MOTU site for details and found this... NOTE: These firmware updates are only applicable to MIDI Express XT units that have a serial number starting with ‘MXT’. Units that have a serial number starting with ‘MEXT’ or ‘MXXTU’ cannot ...

NAMM 2020

So any guesses if MOTU will unveil anything new this year? I don't expect any big announcements regarding DP, but maybe some new hardware?

I haven't made the effort to attend NAMM in a few years, but when I do I always attend this event. Thanks for keeping up the tradition Jim. One of these years I'll make it back!

Re: Catalina drivers for USB interfaces now available

So far so good with the audio drivers/828x connected via thunderbolt. MIDI drivers for my "legacy" Express XT are a no go. Not recognized by audio MIDI setup. I have a technote open with MOTU so we'll see what they have to say about that. What is the firmware version of your Express XT? I...
