THANK YOU! Discovered the problem, tried to troubleshoot, came here, saw your post, and was up and running right away.James Steele wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 8:15 am Try going to System Settings / Security and Privacy and make sure DP is set to be able to use the Microphone. I just saw a DP user post that on Facebook.

Re: Thunderbolt 2 on 2019 Mac Pro?
Thanks! Should be OK. I will have the Thunderbay on a separate TB port, so no daisy chaining will be needed. The computer has four TB 3 ports, and I will only be using two for now (828x and Thunderbay). I've ordered two adapters. I will run my video monitors from the two HDMI ports, as well. Thanks ...

Re: Thunderbolt 2 on 2019 Mac Pro?
Thanks so very much, everyone. Very helpful, and also encouraging. I know I could always use the USB 2 ports, but having the faster and larger throughput is what I want. I will try the adapter. I also have a set of ss hardrives (OWC Thunderbay) that I have used via TB, so hoping I can continue to us...

Thunderbolt 2 on 2019 Mac Pro?
Trying to find the latest info on this topic. Was just given (!) a 2019 Mac Pro, but my MOTU 828x and hard drives are Thunderbolt 2, so no ports. 1. I have HEARD that TB 2-3 adapters can be sketchy or erratic. Still true? 2. Is there a reliable card I can install in the MP that would provide Thunder...

Re: MIDI data recording erratically
Great thoughts! I love your statement: "It's kind of like collaborating with many different "versions" of yourself". I agree! I've been in a dry spell for a couple years, but I'm now finally working on a new album of piano music, and I'm also excited to work with some new VIs and...

Re: MIDI data recording erratically
OK, so operator error. I had downloaded the driver that included my OS in the title. I just now installed the driver for 10.15. It worked and all seems to be well. I assumed it wouldn't work as I am still on 10.13. Happy and relieved, and I can get to work tomorrow on some new music to inaugurate my...

Re: MIDI data recording erratically
Thanks again. Yes, I downloaded the latest drivers from MOTU and installed when I set up the new machine. I'm reading up on things and I'll see if something else might work. Stay tuned...

Re: MIDI data recording erratically
Thanks, Doug! Unfortunately, that didn't do the trick. However, I did some more messing around. I tried various keyboards going through my MIDI Express, and that all had the problem. But then I tried a MIDI controller (Axiom 49) going direct to the computer via USB, and the problem disappeared. So i...

MIDI data recording erratically
I just inherited a Mac Pro Trashcan (running High Sierra). I am currently migrating my studio to it. Updated to DP 10 in the process (from 9.1). MIDI interface is MOTU MIDI Express XT. Tried recording MIDI piano tracks and found the results were way off in rhythm. I disabled "snap-to-grid"...

Saving Presets in AU Matrix Reverb
Hey, Long-time away. Just upgraded to DP 9.1 and El Capitan. Trying to save a custom preset in the old AU Matrix Reverb plugin, and I get the "no-can-do" beep from my computer. I can save presets in other plugins, but not this one. Any idea what I'm missing? Do I need to add a folder in my...

Old Hardware, New OS? (828 mkii; MIDI Express XT)
I have been getting away with using DP 7.24, and a MOTU 828 mkii and a MOTU MIDI Express XT on Mac OS 10.9.5 for quite a while. (Computer: MBP 2 GHz Intel Core i7) The wheel hasn't been broken, so no need to fix. Till now. I'm looking to upgrade some other software that needs 10.10 (can't find it an...

Please let us know. I hope to upgrade to Yosemite soon, once I upgrade some of my other software to be compatible. I'd hate to have to replace my 828 at the same time...

Re: New Macbook will not recognize 828MKII
Good question. First of all, you made me realize I had not updated my signature in a while. I have a newer MBP now (mid-2013) and I'm running Mavericks (10.9.5). So we're much closer in OS than we might have been. I would think there wouldn't be a problem, but I have no guarantees. I'm guessing that...

Re: New Macbook will not recognize 828MKII
Mike's reply above had the solution for me: 828mk2 > FW400-FW800 cable > FW800-Thunderbolt adapter > MBP (Mavericks) The key seems to be the cable , which eliminates one of the adapters in the path. Working like a charm for a few months now. Found the cable cheap on Amazon. Good luck! Neil

Re: New Macbook will not recognize 828MKII
Cool. I'm also looking at the Ultralite mk iii Hybrid, which runs about $550. For my limited needs, it might be enough. I never use all my inputs and outputs, and I only used the ADAT interface once when transferring some old tracks from ADAT several years ago. (The Ultrlite also uses Cuemix FX.) I'...
