yeah, exactly....everything looks fine, like it changed without a hitch...but...no sound, etc till you reassign.

you're welcome. it's a handy little tip that i really had to go digging for when i was first having my trouble. it's a good thing to reiterate every so often, so that noobs (or just folks that bought new interfaces) don't have to dig quite so much...
enjoy!

i think switching VI's behaves roughly the same way even when you're just monitoring (i.e. working out parts, not recording yet)... though i think all i've had to do to cure that is to switch the MIDI track out of rec, and back to rec again. i haven't tried it with prerecorded MIDI tracks, but it se...

i do not. i have a focusrite saffire, and i ran into a pretty similar problem. i was ready to give up and take it back when i happened across a rather generic "catch all" help hint on the motu website which said basically "if you're having problems, set the work priority to medium or ...

have you tried setting your work priority to "low" in dp?
you'll probably have to raise your buffers a bit too...

lesse... 1. bugfixes. 2. engine optimization 3. a little nitpick, but it'd be nice if the mixer could optionally scale to the window it's open in...i hate having to scroll around to see stuff. also, it'd be nice if the mixer window would not get any taller than the mixer panel itself...there's just ...

i was going to buy the firebox, and got suckered into the extra $ for the saffire...hehe, yeah, they really had to twist my arm, lemme tell ya... it really depends on what kind of stuff you'll be doing with it. for instance if you're going to need to do a few separate headphone mixes, and send rever...

hmmm. this just makes me think. isn't one of dp's features something about fx throttling, so your fx plugs don't draw cpu when there's no audio passing through them? wouldn't you'd think freeze should do the same thing...? freeze a track, you have audio, so nothing would be passing through the signa...

the same holds true for the focusrite saffire...though i couldn't find specific info on the web regarding dp, other than motu's generic recommendation (to paraphrase):
if you're having trouble...set the work priority to medium or low, and increase your buffers.

sony 7506's are pretty commonly used for monitoring while recording... not sure if i'd mix on them, but they don't seem to have a lot of overemphasized bottom end like a lot of "consumer" phones do nowadays. akg 240m's are likewise pretty commonly seen. they take some real juice to get the...

i'd agree with the two major recommendations: record to a 7200rpm drive. more memory. more memory. more memory. max it out if you can afford to! i don't know if this is useful, but i ran into a strange clicking/popping problem with my focusrite saffire interface. if i used a vi (absynth in particula...

yeah, folder tracks are really nice...i'm actually kinda surprised that dp doesn't have them...i mean, the tabbed main window concept put them light years ahead of the competition, in terms of graphic interface. mebbe folder tracks could come immediately after engine optimization on the to-do list f...

strangely enough, i've found myself using a main window split in two, the tracks window below, the sequence above... the tracks window, as someone else stated, i've been using for setup, etc...and i'll switch to mixer view if the desire arises... but, it does come down to personal preference...at le...
