one of the really sweet parts about it is the foldown in the master channel...so you can monitor 5.1, then go to stereo, then mono, or any other bundles you have set up. it's pretty slick.

lol, i like the eno quote. yeah, i didn't go into mastering, as i was going more along the lines of the final mixes to deliver to mastering...(even if that means just dragging it over to another program). the idea is to start the (pre)mastering process with as good a mixdown file as possible. :)

well, let's use an example...albeit a grossly oversimplified one. you've recorded a file. it's stored on the hard disk...nothing you do short of a destructive edit is going to change that file (the beauty of daws!). let's assume for the sake of oversimplification, that that file's audio has a value ...

..hehe...and then...me. i haven't had any problems thus far, honestly, minus the odd minor annoyance with the output levels for sub outs not having numeric values (i.e....where the hell is -3db?). i've mostly been dealing with VI's, and once i got the work priority thing figured out (you have to set...

as described, it looks pretty much the same on my g4 powerbook :)
i think we just get an additional pulldown up on top:

Settings For: a) power adapter, and b) battery.

i think in the pulldown at the bottom, there are 3 levels: highest, automatic, and lowest.

32 bit fixed is even better than float, especially in this case. you wouldn't have to worry so much about as many float rounding errors piling up throughout the process... yeah, "pro mastering" does come at a cost...and for most of us, the $ just doesn't allow. the end result may or may no...

Ya know, I guess I'm not getting this. If your project is at 24bit, what difference would bouncing out at 32 bit make? Trying to do the math here... because, he's trying to preserve as much of the original audio as possible. dithering should only be done once, and as a last step prior to burning to...

64 bit. hmmm...now are they talking audio, or just the application itself, as in "optimized to run on 64bit windows"? (vice the 32 bit breeds 98(?)-xp). also, if 64 bit audio, is it float, or linear? 32 bit float is still only 24 bits of resolution per sample...just moved around via a deci...

i likewise went the other way...from vs-880 to pc. in fact i got into the whole pc recording thing as a result of going to buy cakewalk pro7 (because you could automate vs-880 mixes with it), and leaving with cubase vst instead. the self-contained boxes are pretty okay, especially for portability, b...

weird. is "disable capo" checked in dp?
;)

<ahem> sorry.
actually, have you scored this piece? could the key sig possibly do this to you? i wouldn't think so, but if no pitch bend, or weird a=(whatever freq B is) tuning thing, it's all i can think of?

what's your work priority set to in DP?
one of motu's generic tips for issues with soundcards is to try a lower setting (i.e. medium or low), and possibly raise the buffers...

one pleasant part of your transition will be that thankfully, NI puts both pc/mac versions of the software on their install cd's :) make sure you get the updates though, especially the updated reg tool. i was sure glad i didn't have to buy NI Komplete again...Reason's the same way. insofar as stabil...
