Re: Compatible Laptops for the Motu 8pre

Since you are a Sonar user by now you should know that Jim Roseberry over at that forum does not recommend any laptops today since no one includes a TI chipset on the MOBO. He now recommends a rack mount case unit with a standard pc. That being said, the option of finding an external card with a TI ...

Re: Question when using 2 different MOTU 828MKII FW

My experience also. Motu's drivers see multiple instances of the same thing. If you are in ASIO try WDM and see if the same thing happens. Caveat: since I am using dissimilar Motu firewire units I was not altogether surprised when the driver wanted to install itself again for each unit. Asio only su...

Re: motu fw/usb driver 1414 problem

Are you upgrading or doing a roll-back? I've done the same thing you suggest doing roll-backs and still find tons of artifacts: driver files left behind, directories not cleared, registry full of trash,...And newer artifacts will not let the older version install. And you really can't talk to Motu a...

Re: motu fw/usb driver 1414 problem

you might not have all the old files removed. I had this situation with an attempted roll back and I could not install the old asio drivers. So I checked the properties of the file installed (mfwasio in this case, as I recall) and found that the version I had been trying to remove was still there an...

Re: Latest Drivers, Ultralite mk3, XP64 and Sonar 8PE

Doesn't Sonar give you a choice of Left, Right, or Stereo on the inputs? I have the same thing with an older driver. I always thought the labeling was a windows idiosyncrasy since every interface I've used has done it this way.

Re: 896HD Lost Disk

Since it's an 896 HD I'd suggest no later than 3.6.7.4 for a driver version. Later ones are more specifically written for the MkIII hardware.

Re: my network card causes the pops/crackles and crashes

usually pro audio sound cards are run on systems that aren't connected to the internet because of the high bus requirements involved with processing audio. Laptops are doubly lame for this under those conditions. Buy a Mac won't fix this. Why not use your on board sound?

Re: Advice needed before I buy MOTU interface

I have the 896hd and an 8pre. I use Sonar8. The software isn't a problem. Daisy chaining via firewire is. Microsoft broke the firewire driver with XP Sp2 so that two units will not sync. I don't think this has been fixed with Vista. I have heard nothing of this with Windows7. There is a third party ...

You should be able to do that in your MIDI software. You'll just define an output.

Re: Has my 8Pre died? Help please!!

I've found the best way to get through to them is to call customer service and not tech support. They answer that one because they expect a sale. But go to MOTU and start a service ticket there first. That way they'll start working on it first. And, don't forget to do a manual search for any old mot...

Re: Daisey chaining an 896 and 896HD

again, Windows keeps back-ups of necessary files in various locations. If you delete it out of the system file it will automatically and magically return. You have to make sure all hidden directories are visible. Then do a search for the file and then you have to remove them from your system from th...

Re: 896HD input trim volume

since the 896 hd is a stand alone your comp should not be an issue here. And I'll assume you turned on phantom power. What mic? How far away from the mic are you singing/playing? I hope you used the line or preamp out from your amp. And a simple one. Have you tried other cables to make sure it's not...

Re: Traveler mk3 instalation software

don't forget to find the .pdf for install too. You have to install the drivers before you connect the unit or problems will follow. That should be in the driver .zip too.
