I heard, and have more or less confirmed, that Western Digital drives seem to be amongst the more reliable at the moment. I've bought them exclusively for roughly 4 years, and they have been flawless. Just went with the bog-standard 7200rpm SATA mid-size in the range each time. I appreciate, after a...

I took it apart, and inside there was simply an IBM Deskstar drive--which was known for not lasting very long, and which I could have bought even at that time for less than $100.Shooshie Wow. The old IBM DeathStar! Went through 3 or 4 of them then gave up! They really were just about the cr...

Mooncat, the soundbites mini-menu is your friend.
You can convert sample rates and formats there.
DP doesn't do it in "real time".
You might want to back up your transfers as they are, before you start experimenting!

Jeff, the power supply current can only be DC or AC. If it's DC, then there's no toggling of phase, and no flickering could occur. If it's AC, then it's conceivable you could get a flicker, but it would have to occur at the cycle rate of your mains AC outlet. Here in Australia that's roughly 50Hz. I...

Well, it doesn't sound so much like a DP issue as it is a MOTU issue. If money has to be spent, and if money is a consideration, trying out Kontakt2 might be a cost effective solution rather than spending $1k on Logic or $2k on Nuendo. There is a K2 demo version which makes it easy to try before yo...

In 5 years you can sell the Class A hardware for at least as much if not more. And the URS and the Neve plugs? The SSL plugs? Will be sitting in the closet with the other $50K worth of software from the previous decade including P.. DP 2,3,4, and yes DP 5. All the boxes in the color of the rainbow ...

Don't run across many bagpipe bands in Dallas, or in the entire Southwest, for that matter. But in British Columbia, on Vancouver Island, I had a girlfriend in Victoria who lived near a park by the ocean where all the pipe & drum corps used to practice. They were fascinating in their intent res...

Well... MOTU can just come back @ us with "it will work with PT hardware"... Yes, it does and it's really nice but I would rather see a SEAMLESS approch within DP that really would be an optimization of the audio engine. Agreed. The PT thing wouldn't be an alternative either, would it? Mo...

Re: Pitch Correction Question?

Would it be possible to hook up a usb MIDI keyboard to correct pitch with DP's native pitch correction/ adjustment in real time on AUDIO. Thanks, Randy. :D Sorry, Randy; no go. :( The pitch feature relies on analysis of soundfiles done by DP itself. It's therefore "non-realtime", but is I...

express xt MIDI in & out lights flicker constantly

I believe the express console doesn't offer filtering of act sens. At least, it never used to... FWIW, jeff, the purpose of active sensing was to help alert/ point to faulty/ incomplete connections. The data is harmless. You could simply use that flickering as a "confidence/ all is well" i...
