I've got two Sony C-38Bs. They're great mics, very versatile, but money's tight and I need some other gear more.
OK, maybe "need" is an overstatement...

Re: Where to sell pair of vintage mics?
Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'm going to start with the GearSlutz classifieds but may also post to some of the places you've listed.

Where to sell pair of vintage mics?
I'm a long-time participant on the MOTU-MAC list but not so much here. This seemed like a more appropriate place for this question, though. I want to be careful because I know that, on that list, only MOTU gear can be advertised for sale. I'm just looking for advice about what lists, auctions, etc, ...

Re: Archival CDs?
I'll probably be dead before that, so who gives a crap... Seriously, though, I guess it's all the "touting" that I'm trying to filter through. I've read an opinion that gold is actually an interior medium to silver because of its reflective properties. I've read several places that Phthalo...

Archival CDs?
I've read some things about archival quality gold CDs although I'm not sure if they're really worth the extra money. Has it been established that these are really going to last longer? If so, is this the case only with a product like the Delkin Archival discs or are some others also in this category...

Need old-fashioned sweep
I just picked up MX4 in the DP6 upgrade deal. I REALLY don't know much of anything about synth programming, I'm embarrassed to say. I do need something that should be fairly simple to create but I just don't know where to start. I need to provide a sound effect to someone that is just an old-fashion...

Thanks for your reply. I actually started at id3.org before posting here and elsewhere. There is more technical information there than I'm able to utilize with my limited level of geekdom, but I think it helped me ask more informed questions. For what it's worth, it doesn't appear that iTunes is usi...

Yes, that's an appealing solution because of its cost. However, can you confirm that the iTunes-created tags are readable by a wide variety of other players? I'd really like to know more about issues of forward-backward compatiblity for the standard. I've heard that there are some quirks in Apple's ...

id3 tag editors and implementation
I'm about to begin preparing several hundred audio files for a download site. I realized that I didn't really know much about how artwork and other info is associated and/or stored with audio files so I've been researching that today. I'm wondering if anyone has thoughts and or recommendations regar...

UViX problems with .NKI files
I've just installed MachFive v.1, updated to 1.2.3 and also done the UViX update. I've got an instance of M5 open in a DP 5.11 file (OS 10.4.8) and am attempting to covert a Kontakt file created in v.2.2.3. I select .NKI as file format and browse to the folder where it sees the .nki files. However, ...

MachFive import from Kontakt2
I've also posted this over on the MOTU-MAC list but thought I'd try here as well. I need to prepare some samples in K2, which I own, for import into MachFive, which I do not own. Can anyone describe a way to do that so I can avoid as many hassles as possible? I don't yet know if the receiving party ...

Sound effects sites?
Looking for suggestions regarding good sources for individual samples. In this particular case I need a pistol/starter gun.
