Re: MacPro 2008 8-core vs. 2012 12-core

I have the 2008 8-Core Mac Pro and I have the 2012 12-core. The twelve core is significantly faster and it supports much more ram than the 8-core. Given the 64-bit world that we live in now, just having the ability to have more ram just might be worth the price of admission. My 8-core, 24MB machine ...

Re: Say it isn't so? Only mono panners on stereo tracks?

I honestly don't get what the deal is here. Frankly, stereo to me isn't panned, its balanced. In other words, the energy on stereo tracks should be the same on both the left and right tracks. If stereo isn't balanced, the output is tilted and that's not what you want for stereo tracks. There are too...

Re: DP8 is a giant drag. Can anyone suggest a new DAW?

Wow..... You're a real a**!!! There's NO emergency for 64 Bit! I've been doing just fine without it as have MANY others! As for me, I'll wait for the majors such as Universal Audio to release their 64 Bit versions. It's certainly not stopping me from working successfully!! I can't believe you joined...

Re: DP 8.01 is released!

Hey! The updater didn't create a second copy of DP.... it just left one application in the folder, and it's DP 8.01. Didn't it always used to make a new one, and then you'd have to throw the old one away? I just did the update and it did leave the 8.0 copy. Hmm, I wonder what's the deal? Anywho, ev...

Gah! Yet another DP8 issue that seems to be specific to me. Anyone have any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong?

Which interface are you attempting to use? Direct Hardware Playthrough won't work with the your Apogee.

Re: 44.1, 96 hut,hut, HIKE!!!

Without question a higher sample rate is better than a lower sample rate. The question is how much better and at what cost? I maintain that after the track has been rendered down to the target rate of 44.1/16 for a CD that it's not a big enough difference to justify the additional overhead. Heck, mo...

Re: 44.1, 96 hut,hut, HIKE!!!

I tend to record at 44.1/24 always. There's no logical reason to record at 16-Bit other than for scratch tracks. If you can't get a great recording from 44.1, a higher sample rate isn't going to help you. There is reason to go to 48 if your recording may possibly end up on DVD since that's the sampl...
