Re: 828 MkII Humming!

For anyone that still uses these I just wanted to mention that I finally ditched my 828mkii. I got a traveler original version and love it. Zero noise! And little or no heat. There are some feature differences but they sound identical to me. You can pick one up for a song and a dance ebay. I also tr...

Re: 828 MkII Humming!

Wanted to re-open this old post, because I found a fix for Motu 828 Mk 2 physical transformer hum that I hadn't seen anywhere else. I had a unit that worked OK for many years, then suddenly developed an annoying physical hum. OK if it was in a rack somewhere, but very annoying when I moved it under...

828mkii slaved to spdif--what signal goes to word clock out?

I am currently using my Apogee mini me as the master clock to my 828mkii. There is no other way to link the two digitally since the mini me only has spdif out. So, when the 828 is slaved to a master via spdif, what does word clock out on the 828 reference? Does it output the 828 internal clock, or t...

Re: Is there a MIDI device to connect to 424 pci ???

That's good to know. Thanks. mikehalloran mentioned potential driver issues with windows for older devices. I noticed you are on a mac, monkey man. I'll look into it before I purchase.

Re: Is there a MIDI device to connect to 424 pci ???

Great. Thanks. I think I figured it out. But the reason I want to try the "audiowire" setup is for audio latency, not MIDI. It's just that none of the audiowire devices (2408,hd192)come equipped with MIDI ports--and I need MIDI to sync a drum machine to the grid on my DAW, and for a keyboa...

Is there a MIDI device to connect to 424 pci ???

I have been an 828mkii user for years. I'm thinking about buying a used 2408 mkiii with a pci/e 424 card--in an attempt for lower latency. But I noticed that the 2408 doesn't have MIDI. Are there any motu "audiowire" devices that have MIDI ports? If not, what is the solution?

Re: 828 MkII Humming!

Old thread but what the heck . . . I've had my 828 mkii for over a decade. It's always had a slight tolerable buzz/humm, but a few days ago it suddenly became much worse and intolerable. Great to see so many have had some success in curing the problem. I'll probably dig into it this weekend to see i...
