Re: Backup Questions OS 10.12.6
So you didn't succeed? WD has phone support and can walk you through this. BTW, you do not set TM up in Disk Utility. Time Machine is one of the default settings for these—it's in the manual. Then you do the setup in Time Machine. Again, let WD talk you through this. Yes ... the bit about Time Mach...

Backup Questions OS 10.12.6
As I face impending upgrades in my OS, I have to (finally) set up Time Machine so I get an adequate backup. I bought a Western Digital "My Book" drive, 6TB capacity, to use as the backup drive. Initially, it mounted OK when I located it in Disk Utility. Once I tried to set it up in Time Ma...

Re: Upgrade Boot/System Drive (Existing is Full)
Well, as they say, no good deed goes unpunished. I simply cannot figure out how to install the correct OS on to the machine. I received and installed the SSD into the optical bay. No other place seems to work because I don't have the right enclosure to install it into one of the regular HDD bays. I ...

Re: Upgrade Boot/System Drive (Existing is Full)
One additional question ... the drive I have to replace is the main system/boot drive. Mike mentioned that the best bet after installing the drive and installing the OS in it is to swap the SSD out and place it in the first bay, to avoid issues with changed bus IDs. I'm assuming those bus ID issues ...

Re: Upgrade Boot/System Drive (Existing is Full)
HCMarkus (et al), In order to utilize the optical bay (which, I presume, is necessary due to the shape of the SSD), does that mean I lose the existing optical drive, or is there room for another one in there? I could look, but I am not in front of it now. Any good recommendations for a reliable SSD,...

Re: New Mac Options
Looks like some good options ... I am not too inclined to move to a Mac Mini with no drive bays, etc. That's why I got a Mac Pro to begin with. I have another thread on replacing the boot drive on my Mac Pro, on which Mike responded as well. Maybe its time to do a more comprehensive upgrade. The 568...

New Mac Options
Greetings! I have reached the point that I am starting to see software (VIs/plugins, etc) come out that I cannot access due to my Mac being just a little too old. I can't upgrade beyond 10.12x (as far as I know) and that is starting to be a problem. Anyone who has shopped the new line up of desktop ...

Upgrade Boot/System Drive (Existing is Full)
I need to upgrade my existing main HDD, which is now out of space. I have to make the choice between old school and SSD, and then figure out how to migrate all my data over to the new drive, as well as the system software, etc. I figure I need to go 2 TB in size. Any good tutorials, advice, etc.? I'...

Re: Cannot hear audio on imported video track
Thanks, everyone, for the tips.
Is there a comprehensive primer on recording audio with video and baking it all back into something exportable?

Re: Cannot hear audio on imported video track
OK ... that worked. I exported audio from Quicktime, dragged that on to a stereo audio track in my project and heard the audio, after changing the output to Built-in. I still don't know why I couldn't hear it before, but I can now and that's good. I would like to see what you linked to, but there wa...

Cannot hear audio on imported video track
Hello Folks, I know the answer is probably something obvious, but... I can't hear the audio on a video I imported into DP. I converted the video from MP4 to H264, it plays back ok (I see the video moving in the Movie window). I can see the audio signal in the meter in the Master Fader, but I do not ...

Yes, that's the Archive site I mentioned, there are just so many links and no obvious way to tell if any of them have the movie with all the sound except music.

Re: Video for Scoring Practice
You don't say what OS other than Mac. You can record the screen in Quicktime without audio in Mojave and earlier. To record a video on your Mac: Open QuickTime. Tap “File” at the top of the display. Choose “New Screen recording” Hit record. You can record the whole screen, or click and drag your mo...
