Thanks, I have 2 2tb WD drives that are nearly full, they have been good. This time I might go usb powered 2.5in drives, if reliability would not be significantly worse. And yes, a Samsung 850 EVO is next.

I'm looking at buying 2 external HDDs, probably 4TB 2.5in drives that are USB powered. It seems some are regular SATA with a USB controller in the case, others have some sort of proprietary system with the USB directly soldered to the drive, so the drive cannot be taken out and connected to a regula...

Ok, thanks for the replies. I'm already on iOS 8.1, so probably don't have much to lose with the latest version. Then again, syncing with my El Capitan MBP is not a high priority.

Hi, my iPhone 4S is still on iOS 8.1, is there any disadvantage in upgrading to the latest and greatest? Things slowing down and such? Maybe I read too much internet chatter...nah, surely not. :?

Thanks for the replies. I opened iTunes, but when I tried to login, it froze, as it does via appstore, messages etc., and I had to force quit. I can access my account fine on my PC. Maybe I need to deauthorise the computer, or would the fact that I've changed country be an an issue? Hmmm.
