Re: MIDI Controller Keyboard & Digital Performer

I've been hearing good things about their FX2000 reverb/fx/comp rack unit, and of course they've made decent MIDI controllers for years (faders, rotaries, pedals, BCR2000, BCF2000, FBC2000). New generation looks promising too. As far as audio, I just got the ADAT expander (ADA8200 with MIDAS designe...

Re: DP vs PT

I run my 27" iMac at 1980x1080 and it looks pretty good to my old eyes. You can get a 27" backlit LED monitor retail for $250. For $150, I can get a 24". (Less $ online) The latest and greatest are all backlit and HDMI. An adapter runs $3-$7 You can pop the mixer out of the Consolida...

Re: Opinions Please- Apple Alchemy Plugin?

iOS has Inter-App Audio, it's not a far stretch. Apple is good at sandboxing apps, I'm sure they could have it enables for only certain applications and make sure the code is not available for browsers to use the API or whatever else like spotify... Otherwise, maybe it would be nice to see an applic...

Re: DP vs PT

Thanks for that anecdote; since I'm starting out on my own I wanted to make sure I had PT so potential clients wouldn't see me as "not up to par" with larger studios. I'm doing this independently, so I want to avoid any potential pitfalls before they come up. I did not grow up with tape, s...

MotuAudioSystem MAS not working?

I'm running DP8.07 on Yosemite 10.10.5 and a few days ago, everything was running fine. Nothing has changed since then. I am using a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 with an ADAT expander Behringer ADA8200 (limited to 48k) and SPDIF is a DigiDesign ElevenRack. Even if I turn off the 11R and 8200, I still ge...

Re: For what it's worth...

I look forward to wanting a break someday. I'm finally getting to the point in my life where I'm finding myself busy enough to be overwhelmed on some days, and right now, that feels like success :-) I'm sure sooner or later I'll need a vacation, but I'm gonna ride this high as long as I can. Kids ar...

Re: DP vs PT

Thanks for that bit of philosophy. I get it. I grew up with staff paper and a pencil. Graduated to Sibelius 2, then AVID bought (ruined) it and I moved to Finale. I learned MIDI basics from Reason 2.5, which, like you say, is like what it was like to have a rack of gear back in 2004! It was wonderfu...

It'll never work.

So then maybe PT is better for you?
Or change V-Racks to Floaters.

Ok, that's probably true, but do the threads go onto the 2nd page? Or just pointed straight here? :surrender:

Re: DP vs PT

MLC, I understand the concept of VRacks and how it's useful for TV/Film composers, and when I was learning DP before, that's the work I was doing. That kind of work is going away, for me, it seems, so I'm getting more into recording and bands. Maybe compose instrumentals for an R&B singer, etc. ...

Re: How to troll

Quick tangent: I had a subscription at one point to both Groove3 as well as MacProVideo. Some of the Reason videos were great and I learned a couple of new tidbits that I would never have discovered on my own. Good stuff. Same with logic, and even some ableton stuff even tho I don't use it at all. T...

Re: DP vs PT

Room tone?? I might be sold right there. Gotta play with workflow for a week or two, but this might be a good enough reason to make the jump real. MOTU seems much more stable than AVID for the long haul, and once I learn to do MIDI like the days of yore, I'll have a good starting place. If it weren'...
