Digidesign TDM Support
Does anyone remember when DP could use the Pro Tools HD TDM engine? Did anyone use it? Did it actually really use the engine (as opposed to CoreAudio or whatever preceded it, I can’t remember what name(s) of what came before that with Mac OSX) as opposed to just the first 8 channels you get sometime...

What is the future of DP?
Hi everyone, I have generally been a lurker here except for my post in 2014 about selection of MIDI notes which spurred a good deal of discussion. I haven’t been using DP nearly as much as I used to, but as I grew up with it and use it for all compositional projects I have a lot of love for it. I tr...

Re: Using a different MIDI track for key switches and CC#7
Thanks for the response - hadn't thought about reassigning continuous data OR using any other MIDI filters besides what DP would provide. Even though as you said it isn't particularly helpful here, the MIDI plugins in the link are cool and I need to get my brain thinking about outside solutions like...

Global free-floating MIDI editor window for all chunks?
It seems like all of the windows I typically have up always switch over automatically (I could be wrong about it being automatic, I'm not in front of it right now) to the chunk I activate from the chunks window EXCEPT the MIDI editor, which does not seem to have the capacity to switch between chunks...

Using a different MIDI track for key switches and CC#7
Because I often prefer to make MIDI selections for processes like quantizing, change duration, transposing, etc in the tracks overview window, I think making a separate MIDI track for key switch notes is a pretty good solution for avoiding selecting and processing those notes as well. The issue is t...

Re: DP8 - Greyed out "Guide" in Sidebar Cell Menu
Yeah, page 101 of the 8.07 manual has a picture of the menu calling it the sidebar cell menu but I think it only names it this that one time. I was thinking that it's maybe something that is used in the Windows version and is useless in the Mac version but if that was the case why would they include...

DP8 - Greyed out "Guide" in Sidebar Cell Menu
Hi, Just wanted to let anybody concerned know that since my last thread on selecting MIDI notes I have made a substantial effort to change my selection habits. Thanks again for all the advice. Since getting DP8 I've noticed that there's a greyed out "Guide" option in the sidebar cell menu....

Re: Selection of MIDI notes in MIDI editor
Gonna pick all of your brains again... Things are getting clearer now - the people who strongly oppose the behavior to drag select MIDI notes from anywhere in the note seem to have a common workflow where you look at multiple overlapping MIDI tracks in the MIDI editor simultaneously. I think what I ...

Re: Selection of MIDI notes in MIDI editor
Shooshie - I am thankful that you have spent so much time on this and gone to the effort to make a video on it. Now that I have seen your video I can clearly see how it makes more sense in your style of workflow for DP to select notes the way it does. My workflow is different. My compositions tend t...

Everyone seems to be in agreement that this is NOT something that can be controlled. I appreciate everybody's responses!

Shooshie,
I think you understand exactly what I am wanting - but in case there is any confusion this video should clear it up.

Re: Selection of MIDI notes in MIDI editor
There is the note on with its velocity and the note off with its velocity, colored in between to show the illusion of a single sustained note event. When you are in the MIDI editor and are using either the pointer or I-beam tool (regardless of setting in the tools preference drop-down menu) to selec...

Selection of MIDI notes in MIDI editor
I know that in Pro Tools and Logic, in their piano roll editors you can select MIDI notes by dragging the cursor selection over any part of the note. In Digital Performer it seems that in order for the note to be selected, the note start has to be part of the selection. Does anyone know of a way I c...
