Re: THANK YOU, "MAGIC DAVE" ROBERTS!!!!!

Thank you, Dave, for your extremely patient guidance and help as I settled on my primary DAW a few years back, which is DP, thanks to you. Couldn't have made a better choice. My best to you!

Re: This takes WAY too long

I mourn all that lost magnetic tape on the floor -- piles of it. Just think what might have been, but in one impulsive moment with a slice of the blade ...

"This Wild Vitality"

Hi fellow DP users and colleagues, This is my first time to post in this category. I've been producing in DP for the past 3 or 4 years, after having come in contact with Magic Dave. The biggest chunk of that has been cover songs for a client and myself, including a bucket-list completed task of a Xm...

Re: Using Kontakt 5 with DP is a nightmare...

I'm running the latest Kontakt 5 release in the latest DP9 release in Win 10 without any problems. While I usually run Kontakt within a server-host VEPro setup, on a local network, for smaller projects I run Kontakt directly within DP on a single machine ... no problems either way. That's not going ...

Re: Error Importing MIDI files from BIAB

When resaving it in a generic MIDI editor, I "Save As" and give it a shorter filename than what BIAB assigns, something that better applies to the project/track. Then ... In DP: Under File > Import MIDI File as a Sequence. You'll find the file in the Chunks window. Drag and drop it from th...

Re: Error Importing MIDI files from BIAB

I ended up running multiple system tests; none returned any errors. I downloaded & installed a freeware MIDI editor. I opened a MIDI file exported from BIAB, resaved it as a different file name, and eureka, I successfully imported it into DP9 without any problems. Since this only happens with MI...

Re: Error Importing MIDI files from BIAB

Thanks, Mike. Not the best news in the world, but nothing that can't be remedied with a little effort.

Error Importing MIDI files from BIAB

Hi all, I've run into a problem I've not encountered before: whenever I try importing a MIDI file, exported from Band in a Box, I'm getting this error in a popup window: Digital Performer has encountered an error. OS error: Internal Program Error (null pointer) (-108) I'm able to import MIDI from ju...

Re: MIDI Info via VE Pro 5 to DP?

Thanks for the feedback drawn from experience. I received a suggestion from VSL support that I could drag and drop to a shared folder, then pull it into DP - that sounds similar to what you were doing. Your advice has some definite advantage in overall workflow and efficiency.
Thanks again!

MIDI Info via VE Pro 5 to DP?

I am just completing the setup of VEP 5 on a slave machine, connected to DP; both machines are Win 8.1. Other than a couple minor firewall settings, the step up is working great. In the midst of constructing a few templates a question came to mind: I have a handful of phrase-based libraries (Capricc...

Re: Bundled plugins cause DP8 to crash

If you're running DP on Windows 8.1 (possibly 8, though I have no experience with it) are you selecting "Run as Administrator"? I had a few minor glitches with DP after migrating to Win 8.1 that were cleared up after making that slight change when firing up DP. Just a thought.

Re: Quality Blank CDs

Verbatim DataLifePlus, made by Mitsubishi last time I checked, is the only brand I like to use. I went through a lot of coasters and tried some brands that wouldn't play back on some old CD players before finding these. The DataLifePlus have an extra coating that makes scratching through to the dat...

Re: Quality Blank CDs

I may still end up doing just that. They wouldn't know either way who fired up those old thrusters/burners. Honestly I wouldn't burn them myself even on my own duplicator - I'd have one of their peeps do it. But the 90s? I was thinking more like the 80s.

Re: Quality Blank CDs

I stick to known brand names (Sony is preferred). You can probably find good bulk deals online if you're making a ton of them. I probably burn about a dozen discs a year, if that. Delivery is almost always digital these days on most projects unless there is a playback in a theater/classroom or some...
