The Sync test as noted above pretains to the onboard motherboard.
You can say no to the question of whether to run it safely.
Once Neundo comes up, switch the asio device to the MOTU ASIO driver in devices VST Audio something or other.

Do they sound like they're too quiet, or do the waveform displays just look "short".

If it's just the display, theere's a slider in the upper right of the main window, that adjusts the visual display height.

Nvidia chipsets have been the key to my success. I'm currently running my 2 HD192s on an ASUS Crosshair motherboard, with an Athlon64 X2 4800

I bought replacement fans for my HD192s...next time I'm at the studio, I'll look up the Manuf and model #.

In the meantime, try vacuuming the fan opening with a brush attachment. It seems to help quite a bit.

I have had a PCI424 (original) and a revised PCI424 (which I believe is commonly called the PCI-X). There is also a PCI-E. If you don't have PCI-E slots in your computer, you need to be sure you get a PCI or PCI-x. Preferably a PCI-X which works with newer hardware and also on older PCI voltages. Ha...

I've had that problem (Clock SOurce is blank) with the PCI drivers I downloaded from MOTU's site. They're dated sometime in 2006 (I think). I reverted to the June 2004 drivers and they work fine.

If you would like, I can email you the older drivers.

Or mute one track. See if either track sounds good by itself. If so, keep the better sounding track and be done.

Personally, I'd just drop back to the drivers that worked, unless I absolutely had to have them for some reason.

The AV8 motherboard seems to use a VIA chipset, correct? I found that my ABIT mobo with via chipset was very sensitive to resource sharing. Check the device manager's resource view and see if anything is sharing resources with your pci424 (especially IRQ). If so, try moving the PCI424 to other slots...

Win XP drivers have been rock solid for me. I installed in 2003 with the driver available at that time (original 424 Card). Since then I have gotten the newer 424 card (due to motherboard upgrade) in August 2006 and I installed the most current driver at that time. Been rock solid again. I'm on an M...

I've never gotten a useful response by email from MOTU. However, in the US, the phone support guy I dealt with knew what he was talking about and was patient and competent. It can take a while to get through but it was worth it.

ps: I called around 4:30 Eastern time and got through in 2 tries.
