Re: Building a computer for DP
I recommend buying a used hp xw6600. It's the cheapest variant, you get 8 cores and can have up to 64 gigs of ram! Don't buy desktops. Ram on ebay is also super cheap for it and performance will outperform top desktops or will be at least on par. Also you can buy antinoise 4-pin adapters for making...

Re: Hide empty tracks?
Ooops, not sure how I posted in this part of the forum. FMiguelez,I'm using DP 8. I've searched many a day for some option in the menus like this. You mentioned it being in a new menu. What was the old way of doing this, if you recall? Might be enough to nudge me into the $200 upgrade, but then agai...

Hide empty tracks?
I can't believe it's been 4 years since I got DP8 and I've hardly used it till the past week. But I put in maybe 40-50 hours creating a music video for a group present. So I was just bashing my way through it with limited knowledge of how best to proceed. I watched countless videos and read the manu...

Re: EMI shielding Computer
I have a faint buzz that became more of a squeal when I switched to SSD. It is definitely related to the computer doing work. I believe it has to do with my USB interface. I've heard that using a USB isolator may fix the issue. (A little box with optical interface and short usb cable coming out) I'm...

Re: Balancing DP levels with all the other sounds in windows
I also have a multi-speaker situation, and I've taken to using the little donationware app Voicemeeter to split things out among them. That is, I set my ASIO device as the A1 output device (which sets the buffer rate for all others), and then my A2 output to my Windows Audio built-in soundcard. I t...

Re: Balancing DP levels with all the other sounds in windows
You showed us the Recording levels, but what of the Playback section's Levels tab? That is the place where the level of Windows apps would be pulled down. The DAW should be sending via straight ASIO to the interface. This sounds odd, because I have no such issue with any of my USB interfaces presen...

Balancing DP levels with all the other sounds in windows
The level from DP or any standalone VSTs I use is about half the volume of things like Youtube Videos, podcasts etc. This can lead to some bad surprises. I had a crackly speaker in my old Roland monitors and don't want to turn around and damage the Mackies I just installed. (Improved design has dece...

Re: Composers Sound Cloud East West Quantum Leap
I have been continuously downloading for days, and days to come. I have a feeling I can ignore most past complaints about the PLAY engine. When optimized for SSDs everything loads in a snap. I do wish there was user program-ability for custom sets of articulations and their keyswitches, controllers ...

Composers Sound Cloud East West Quantum Leap
I'm still having growing pains building my template and jumped on the monthly deal called Composers Sound Cloud offered by East West Quantum Leap , or CSCEWQLMNOP. In a nutshell Monthly pay and you get one main mike position, pay yearly and you get a discount plus another mike position then Diamond ...

Re: Seeking Advice of DP Experts
When I was a purely MIDI performer I had an initialization sequence I would send to all instruments and MIDI router at the start of each project. Something like this can be done in a template for DP as well. HOWglixolyQ I'm not sure if I want to go to all that trouble, especially at this point where...

Re: Building a computer for DP
I finished the computer, yay. Actually I put the final couple items on a card, boo, and finished it a couple weeks ago. However my previous setup was so lame, I've owned DP8 since whenever it came out for windows (3 years?), I never fully learned how to use it. So with spare time I've been reviewing...

Re: Building a computer for DP
I have it all ordered now except power supply, Windows 10 and the graphics card. Probably 2-3 weeks before I have the money to finish. No... that wont drive me crazy.

Re: Building a computer for DP
You do not need a gaming monitor and video card for DP. You do need more than a 700 series NVidia or comparable card to run video in DP. I ran into problems playing any video file on an older PC with a 700 series card and talked to MOTU about it. They recommended a higher end card, aka, closer to g...
