Re: MachFive 3.2.1 on Big Sur (Mac0S 11.2.2)
I ran Ethno 2 samples on a UVI Workstation. All outputs from the Workstation except the main drop me into mono, though. I'm really used to MachFive and its weirdnesses, so this is a pain.

Re: problems with stereo outputs from the UVI Workstation
My original Instrument track was stereo, and I do get stereo from the main outs. It only goes to mono when I give it an output number. I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong; I had a similar problem years ago when I was first learning MachFive. What is your procedure when you assign Workstation t...

problems with stereo outputs from the UVI Workstation
Hello again, fellow DP people! This week I switched to Monterey and immediately had problems with MachFive 3, which I learned doesn't work with this new OS. So I opened an older project and began to switch my MachFive tracks to the UVI Workstation. Question for you all: I cannot figure out how to as...

Re: 2 Free Plug-ins from Plug-in Boutique
Plugin Boutique has taken the opportunity to thank people for opting-in to their email list by giving away two free plugins: Air Music Technology Hybrid 3 and SoundSpot Nebula. All you have to do is opt-in to their mailing list. I opted-in and downloaded these two plugins (which look great) but can...

Re: Where can I find more MIDI Insert "plug-ins" like Humani
Interesting discussion! One thing I could really use (aside from that nice-looking arpeggiation editor posted above) is a way to turn my automated arpeggiations into editable MIDI data. I've wanted this for a very long time!
Or maybe there is some way to already do this?

NIce job! I like it, particularly when that sort of rhythmn guitar comes in during the second half and everything gets funky. What VIs are you using? Carefully modulated dynamic shifts and a relaxing vibe.
I don't know what to call it either; a soundtrack for an imaginary film?

Re: new track: "One Million Years'
Thanks, Phil and Jon. Phil's bank-heist description cracks me up!
And Jon, you're right about the strings in the bridge. I feel like they just noodle around and don't come to a head. I'll put some more work in there.
thanks again,
Mike E

Some Jurassic head-pounding. Sorry I post so much; I'm 63 and feel like I have a limited amount of time to make things.
As always, love to hear from the M-nation, particularly techie stuff. I've learned a lot from you folks!

new track: a cover of Donovan's "Sand and Foam"
I've been having a grand old time with MOTU's FET compressor both on the master and on the main percussion track. I feel like I'm just learning how to use a software compressor after years of doing everything through an outboard dbx 166A. Let me know what you think (the tech-ier the better). I'm old...

Exquisitely recorded, lovely sounds in a lush soundscape. Wish I'd recorded it myself!

Re: Your Friend Frankie: new track
I've spent a week remixing this track with the comments of Mike and Jon (see above messages) guiding me. The lead vocal is completely rethought: reverb free and hard-compressed using MOTU's fabulous FET compressor (which reminds me a lot of my old dbx 160 boxes). The low end has been cleaned up usin...

Re: Your Friend Frankie: new track
Wow! You guys are so generous! Thanks so much for the suggestions and your time and your expertise; I'm gonna implement these ideas the next time I mix this down. Don't drown the vocal in reverb, maybe some hard compression on that same vocal, and play with the EQ and the level. Then I'm really gonn...

Your Friend Frankie: new track
It's a new track though one of the guitars and some beatbox rhythm were originally recorded thirty-odd years ago on my Tascam 3340. Finally finished the darn thing! It's kind of a magical realist take on my East Village taxi driving life back in the early 80s. Like the song? Like the mix? Love to he...
