I'm considering adding MOTU LP 32 to the 828-ES - Currently it's not connected so can't test it out. With LP32 there are 32 channels over Toslink ADAT - I'm just wandering how the configuring works from mono to stereo channels if an 8 mic preamp was added - Is this done in the MOTU application?

If these interfaces are thunderbolt eg_version 1 that would limit them to 10 Gb/s which is probably more than enough bandwidth anyway. You might get by with 10G.
