Re: Windows 7 wont recognize my 828 mk1

I had the same issue with my 828 mk1. I could not make it work and ended up selling it to a person who uses it on Mac.

Re: 828MK3...confused, why no ability to mix PC input?

One workaround for this is to assign main out from your DAW to spdif out. Then connect spdif out back to spdif in on your device. Now you will have output of your DAW showing as spdif in in CueMixFX. There you can assign it to any monitor mixes you want. If you don't have spdif cable, use yellow con...

Not able to install latest driver 55333 on windows 7

I am not able to install latest driver 55333 on windows 7 32bit. It just rolls back the change. I think it fails when it tries to uninstall previous version 54199. I tried uninstalling previous version from control panel and that fails too. Tried clearing registry manually, removed entries related t...

Re: Ultralite Hybrid MK 3 as a FOH mixer?

Oh and zbf, they are the M-Audio GSR 12's. And thanks for the tip on s/pdif cool! I didn't know M-Audio was in the pro audio business. It seems that had those speakers only briefly in the line. They are no longer available? I suggest you get 1/4 TRS to male XLR cable from motu into speakers (or ada...

Re: Ultralite Hybrid MK 3 as a FOH mixer?

Thanks dewdman :) They said the main outs are fine to drive FOH powered speakers as long as they have an impedance of 100ohms or less. Which covers pretty much everything out there as most are 4 or 8ohm impedance. Assuming of course I am reading their (MOTU's) meaning of impedance correctly. Are yo...

Re: Ultralite Hybrid MK 3 as a FOH mixer?

On my Ultralite output from a computer application (your backing track) can only be directly connected to an output pair. So you would need to preset a level in your app(s) and mix your vox and keys on top of that. There is a workaround for this: - assign your computer's (or DAW's) master output to...

Re: Ultralite Hybrid MK 3 as a FOH mixer?

hmm really? I've never heard of any MOTU overheating issues. I am not sure how often that happened, but you can find some posts here on this forum about 828mk3 and overheating, freezing. Mine was in the rack and it was quite hot when it stopped working. There was no sound although my computer would...

Re: Ultralite Hybrid MK 3 as a FOH mixer?

I "get" it, I perfectly understand what you are trying to do. I am just trying to point to you what are cons for using that type of setup live. That is why I said in my post above: Basically you have two points of failure - computer and motu. In your case both are showstoppers. I am trying...

Re: Ultralite Hybrid MK 3 as a FOH mixer?

Well the whole gig is based around using the lappy, and VST instruments, so really a hardware mixer is a bit moot if the laptop decides to crash!! D Basically you have two points of failure - computer and motu. In your case both are showstoppers. For me computer is just a "remote surface"...

Re: Ultralite Hybrid MK 3 as a FOH mixer?

Mixer or powered speaker, it is very much the same. You need to check what is the expected input level for the powered speakers you want to use. They are probably +4dB. In any way you should be OK. Most of them have some kind of level control so you can set your gain structure. I don't think your co...

Re: Ultralite Hybrid MK 3 as a FOH mixer?

According to the manual: "All ten analog outputs and six quarter-inch analog inputs are on balanced TRS +4dB quarter-inch jacks." +4dB is the standard output level on the pro sound level, so there is no problem in connecting it to any mixer. Since output jacks are balanced, it would be bet...

Re: Setup for vocal recording (and also for live/karaoke)

I am not sure if I understand exactly how you did the routing in CueMix FX. You can assign reverb to the individual channels, instead of the outputs. Just go to the input tab in CueMix. At the bottom there is a pot for each channel. Set your reverb split point to mixer, and then adjust the return le...

828mk3 FW - no sound coming out, just noise

I recently got a used 828mk3 firewire (not hybrid). It worked fine for a couple of days. Today it started making only very distorted sound and after restart it only makes squealing noise into the phones and scratchy noise on some of the outputs. This is not related to the computer, it happens in sta...

Re: 896mk3 Send/Return Question

1) If you want to send signals form the input channels to the external unit: Create a separate mix and set its output to S/PDIF (in the master channel). In this mix adjust the send levels for each channel and the overall output send level on the master fader. Now connect the return S/PDIF from the e...
