Re: Controlling 828es Preamps via OSC from Gig Performer

The Direct Addressable OSC feature in GP 4.7 can be used to specify arbitrary OSC addresses along with a target IP address (usually 127.0.0.1) and port that matches MOTU's CueMix OSC settings. For something even more complex, the SendOSCMessage statement can be used inside GPScript to create arbitra...

Re: Gig Performer... Mainstage alternative?

These are great points - we will work with ILIO to address them. Thanks I will check that out. I believe I had Howard's book back in the day... I will mention that there is no link to that page through the help menu or via the Ilio website, which is where I downloaded the demo. In fact the only ment...

Re: Gig Performer... Mainstage alternative?

Are you sure you created a front panel widget? It sounds like you're just using the Gain/Balance PLUGIN directly through its editor. I set up a simple rack space with a VI and a reverb and then used the Gain/Balance widget to create a send to that reverb. I tried setting the Gain/Balance at 0 dB in ...

Re: Gig Performer... Mainstage alternative?

Kurt, thanks so much for the comprehensive report. I've some family stuff going on that doesn't leave me a lot of time to respond right now but let me just quickly respond to a few things 1) Rackspaces are a little similar to MainStage patches in that they represent a collection of plugins wired the...

Re: Gig Performer... Mainstage alternative?

Yeah, thanks. We will be putting out a few special purpose plugins where we've identified needs that have not been (in our opinion) adequately (or even at all) addressed elsewhere.

Re: Gig Performer... Mainstage alternative?

Yes, that's correct. Apple's plugins are proprietary, much like MOTU's plugins that come with DP only work with DP. By the way, GP barely comes with any plugins (although we do have some "interesting" things in the pipeline). We took the position that there's little point in our developing...

Re: Gig Performer... Mainstage alternative?

No, sorry - I didn't mean that you were attacking. I was noting that when I last responded to questions, we were getting "attacked" basically by people not believing us or claiming we were trolling. EigenD is a very specialized environment, no good to you unless you're actually playing an ...

Re: Gig Performer... Mainstage alternative?

As a long time DP (and indeed just P, on a Mac Se 30 going way back) user who has benefited from having my questions answered here over the years, let me try to answer the questions about Gig Performer, as I happen to be one of the developers of that product. In terms of living up to its claims, tha...

Re: Kontakt 5- "Working on sample data cache. Please wait...

Just for the record, I'm on a Mac, no anti-virus, etc, and I've seen this problem --- not for 5 minutes but I've loaded the standard Strings instrument into Kontakt and waited about 15 seconds while it was "working on sample data cache"

Re: MIDI Express XT stops working after a few hours of non-u

I'm still running into this problem --- note that it started when I first installed Mavericks. I'm wondering if this issue is related to the new App Nap feature in Mavericks? SOMETHING is causing CoreMIDI to go to sleep after a period of inactivity. It can be revived by reinitializing CoreMIDI from ...

Re: MIDI Express XT stops working after a few hours of non-u

Well, that was a complete waste of time.

There is no battery in a modern Express NT.

Re: MIDI Express XT stops working after a few hours of non-u

Sigh, there are no "side" screws on my Express XT. There are rackears (allan screws) and philips screws on the top and bottom

Time to call MOTU

Yeah, the fun part will be taking it out of the travel rack, disconnecting all the cables in a tiny space, etc

Re: MIDI Express XT stops working after a few hours of non-u

Fair enough, I've updated my profile. The Express NTs are not that old but I didn't realize they needed batteries. I assumed that routings and mappings etc. were stored in non-volatile memory. What's the purpose of the battery? I'll get new batteries tomorrow and test again. I appreciate the feedback.
