Re: Starter Bass Amp
Depends on styles involved, and on drum level too (from soft to thunder).
IMOE, in case of rock, or any style approaching, an Ampeg is hard to beat.

Re: hardware mastering processor
Long ago, I've red Bob Katz's book "Mastering audio, the art and the science", from cover to cover (was first edition, back in the days).
Today, it's still on my desk, beside my daw tools.

Re: hardware mastering processor
In a word: Ozone. That's my word, too. IMHO, difference between processors are much more about your knowledge and experience with them (hard and soft). Listening and tweaking many different projects will make you an expert, but will sure take time. BTW, before any mastering task, you must be totall...

Re: Avoid Symphonic Distribution
Sorry to hear your bad experience, SixString. IMOE, bandcamp has proved to be relevant with small business. AFAIK, it takes care of some big business, too. BTW, one of my favorite dead horse beating: Playing and listening music may be considered as spiritual experiences, while musical business never...

Re: New Studio Monitor "Burn In": Necessary or Silliness?
If there is anything, it’s probably your ears accommodating to the speakers than a change in the speakers. That's my own experience, too. Some time needed to accomodate to your new speakers. And, most of all, some time needed to accomodate to the way your listening room reacts to your new speakers ...

IMHO, yes. I presume mastering did take care of levels (as it should).

IMOE, DP crashes are very uncommon.
But I'm still learning to hit Cmd+S after any valuable change in a mix or after any great take.

Re: Midas MR18 over USB: Loud crackling driving me mad
Sorry to hear about your problem, Dave. I hope you get it sorted out soon. Not real help here, but I must say I use a X-32 rack over usb, for years now. Connection to my Mac is thru a very cheap short usb cable. Firmware update and mac update as usual. Coreaudio and no driver. It has been extremely ...

tab as next soundbite shortcut changed ?
AFAICR, in S.E., if a soundbite is selected, pressing Tab used to make selection jump to next soundbite. Now pressing Tab makes selection jump to next+1 soundbite. But pressing alt+Tab makes selection jump to previous soundbite, just as it used to do. Command window still shows Tab as KEY 2 for *Mov...

Re: DP encountered error -43. Show stopper. Any ideas?
[...]I am positive that Time Machine is not involved. It's really easy to see when TM just ran or if it's about to. The second that -43 pops, it and the Activity monitor are checked ASAP.[...] Not sure about what you mean, Mike. But, I can say that TM automatic backup is unchecked, and no more -43 ...

Shooting in the dark again, but narrowing may help:
- Could this behavior be related to Time Machine drive being an APFS volume, not a disk partition?
- Does this behavior affect any non-Monterey MacOS system?

AFAICT, you are doing right.
DP creates a 16bit file from 16bit audio.
