Re: Switching from Sonar (win) to DP8 (mac)
Cmd-shift-opt-i There's also a menu command, under create new track or something like that. It's called an instrument track. Probably a good idea for you to check MOTU's YouTube channel and watch all vids. Great info there, and it's free. Also consider this, if you have an extra $35: http://www.groo...

With redemption code they don't need your iLok handle anymore. So you should be fine.James Steele wrote:Yep I got my confirmation this morning, but no download instructions yet. I'd this thing uses iLok, they'll need my iLok account name also.

Eventide H3000 plug-in at less than half price...
Well, Eventide has a sale on their H3000 plug-in . Normally $349, but between now and the end of April they sell it for $199. That's pretty sweet. BUT Tony at Plugindiscounts.com sells it for $159.85. That's even sweeter... Brave new world we live in. I remember when the H3000 was one of those piece...

Re: Giving Mach 5v.2 to a colleague
Kudos to MOTU for this policy, I'd say. I think it's a good compromise - the "used" version has no upgrade path or tech support. So it really is a "lesser" option - making it ideal for someone strapped for cash who needs a certain app now and wants to do the right thing, but can'...

Re: MOTU Audio Driver 1.6.59644 Creates Analog 7-8 Problem
Just FYI, new driver out, v1.6.60625
I was re-reading this before updating to the 1.6.59644, to decide whether or not I should do this - but of course am going to install the new one now.

Re: Giving Mach 5v.2 to a colleague
Whilst I'm sure you're correct that M5v.2 isnt 64bit, I'm still using DP8 in a 32bit environment, so if Mavericks can be started up 32bit he should be fine, right? No wrapper needed. (I'm still in the stone age with 10.6.8 and I dont want to upgrade (yet) since I will loose TC Powercore. Ah of cour...

Re: Giving Mach 5v.2 to a colleague
Any new iLok would be still yours. You can loan it to anyone you like, but they couldn't administer it. iLok authorizations can be sold via iLok.com. (Also, transfers between your own iLoks happen via their software.) Since it's iLok protected it's probably totally kosher to sell/give it away (that'...

Re: PUSHER by KUSH AUDIO
Thanks for posting this. I was looking just a few days ago and it wasn't available at that time. UBK-1 is one of my favorite plug-ins of all time so Kush's stuff definitely piques my interest. I also get a kick out the developer. He's brilliant and he makes me laugh. Good combo. Okay, I have no ide...

Re: How much can DP handle?
I'm currently doing mock ups for a film I'm scoring and using 4 instances of Kontakt 4, 2x Kontakt 5, 2x Omnisphere, Ivory, Stylus RMX, 2x Altiverb, and MasterVerb, various track plug-ins, busses to auxes for each VI output. I disable unused tracks. I run at 128 or 256 buffer (1024 for mixing), and...

To the original poster - I'm assuming you are on a PC then when doing this video? you replied "Yeah, DP on is on the Mac Pro. Template still on PC. Will consider moving over to the Mac Pro, but need at least 64 gigs of ram." What's your secret on getting your template so big?!?! Ever sinc...

Re: How much can DP handle?
Was at a lecture recently by Joe Trapanese on this (and other) topics. He's on Logic, but the concept stays the same: I asked him why he uses VE Pro in the age of 64bit applications and OS, and he says it's for performance reasons - when hosting inside Logic, "Logic crawls to a halt". So e...

Re: MOTU LISTENS !!!
Hey FM. Do you know if you have to rebuild your DP prefs do you lose all your plugin organization? Not sure about this particular issue, but it's always a good idea to make a copy of your prefs folder when things are set up to your liking and working well. This way, if and when things go south, ins...

Thanks Magic Dave for the post! Ah Nubus, I do not miss you one bit. Actually, SCSI is what I really miss the least... Charles, my PCIe 424 (connected to a 2408mk3) in a 3,1 MacPro is solid as a rock. Until you're ready to go Thunderbolt, a used MacPro from a reputable seller (so you don't end up wi...

Re: Opinions on ergonomic studio chairs, anyone?
Tried a whole bunch of different ones a few years ago and ended up with the Aeron. One of the best investments I have made yet.
Def buy only from licensed dealer, bc the absolutely insanely awesome warranty (full replacement of anything broken for fifteen years or so) otherwise doesn't apply.
