AMAZING RESOURCE
I've been away from Motunation for a while, but I recently found an AMAZING resource that other Motunationers should be aware of. It is a site called "Scribd". This is a subscription site, much like "Spotify" or "Netflix", but it pertains to books. You pay a monthly fee...

Silent sound setting?
I have a MacBook Pro at home, and I was recently allowed to get one for school. I noticed with my new school Mac when I entered notes with Finale I wouldn't "hear" them. When I would playback anything I had written I would hear everything fine, but when I would enter the notes there was no...

Interesting Controller Findings
Recently my 88 key controller just went haywire, and since it was off warranty, it would cost me a couple hundred bucks to send it off, maybe get fixed, evaluated, etc. So, I decided to get a brand new keyboard. There's now a Yamaha Motf 88 and a Roland something that both have 128 voice polyphony, ...

Re: Triggering Chunk Changes on Next Beat-One (downbeat)
Well the problem is that DP goes there IMMEDIATELY. If you miss the rhythm by just a bit the timing will be off. The original post mentioned that the new chunk would start at the beginning of the next measure. I just don't think DP can do that. Whenever you press Enter it jumps.

Re: Using DP vocal effects in a live setting
I run live signals through DP all the time. Works great. I play my guitar on stage through DP plug-ins. Yes you can run dry signals through a direct mixer and just use DP for the effected signal. Set the plug-in to 100% wet so you don't double-monitor the dry signal. Dave How do you set it up? Is t...

Using DP vocal effects in a live setting
I am interested in Using DP in a live setting. My school has a PreSonus StudioLive Mixer that I can use as a Digital Audio Interface for DP. I'm interested in adding reverbs, and possible momentary vocal effects at certain parts of various sequences. Is there a way to run vocals just through the mix...

Re: Does the PreSonus StudioLive 16.4.2 play nice with DP7?
The send to DP via FireWire is tapped right after the mic pre so it should be sent dry. You can send post eq fx etc. by switching something (Ijust forget, never use it, your manual will say) but I'm sure the default is dry. Set your input channel to taste on the board and monitor and send a headpho...

Re: Using DP live
Personally, I'd run the choir through a mixer and not try to use DP as a live mixer. It's there to provide what the live musicians can't. A front-of-house mixer is the best place to do effects for the choir. DP should also be running through that FOH mixer. The sound man will adjust all sound -- th...

Re: Copying Tracks (Aux) In To Multiple Sequences
Copying tracks from one sequence in to another has always been frustrating for me, I never understood why there isn't an easy way to do it. Today I'm trying to re-arrange a large project (I used to use at live gigs) containing many sequences/chunks to work with a new interface (Presonus StudioLive ...

Re: Using DP live
Years of performing live with DP pretty much cemented a style of working for me. When the music was continuous, I used one chunk. When it stopped, I used separate chunks for sending light cues to set up the stage for patter with the audience, moving around, and so forth. Then the light cue for the ...

Re: Using DP live
Thye 45 minute chunk is probably one chunk. It may be several chunks in a Song, but not likely. Chances are, there's enough live music going on that he can chain chunks and nobody will hear any gap between songs. Plus, the applause covers a lot. Shoosh One chunk vs. chaining several chunks implies ...

Re: Using DP live
Another way to do it might be to use multiple rigs. You can be cueing one rig while playing on another, and then at the appropriate moment -- they're time synced, of course -- you just switch audio from one to the other. This would take a special switcher. Mike McKnight mentions that he had one cus...

Re: Recent Pops and Clicks
Did your clicks sound almost like echoes? Sort of a series of echoes, each a little quieter than the one before? That's what used to happen to me. I never figured out exactly why it does that, but my solution has been to use only one interface when working in external MIDI. It hasn't been a problem...
