Re: Intel Mac Pro- should I jump straight from Monterey to Sonoma?
Hey guys, thanks for the responses! I didn't forget about this thread, I've just been dealing with a very sticky issue with DP. I'm trying to pull up files from 3.5 years ago to create stems for Atmos, and many of these projects will not load. I very much suspect Kontakt (speak of the devil), with a...

Intel Mac Pro- should I jump straight from Monterey to Sonoma?
Hi everyone! I have a 2019 16-core Mac Pro (Intel), currently running Monterey. My interface is an RME MADI FX PCIe card, with 192 channels I/O. I also have 12 year old UAD Quad card that still works! My drives are PCIe also, Accelsior 4M2's. I generally don't like to get too far behind with Mac OS....

Re: the cleanest compressor you can recommend
Hi Phil, have you tried the Sonnox Dynamics plugin? That one is my go-to for anything where I don't want to hear the compression.. very transparent, and has a 2nd stage limiter built in. Older plugin, but a great one.

Re: Go Big or Go Home?
Wow the studio looks GREAT! I couldn't keep a chair like the one on the left in my control room, I'd be in it all the time instead of working  But the thing that made this possible is this very cool $100 stand made by VIVO: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TFXO4Q4?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details...

Re: Behringer X-Touch....HUI or MCU?
I would use MCU with DP. My console is a controller- I use MCU with DP, and HUI for Pro Tools. I wouldn't use HUI for anything else than Pro Tools, because there are certain limitations with it for other DAWs. HUI was the first of all these formats back in the day, and it's sort of an old dog. If my...

Re: Sustain Pedal (cc64) and Editing
You can select MIDI notes by double-clicking with the I-Beam tool. The selection will be as long as the note and should include all the underlying data. Thanks for this! I thought it didn't really apply to my situation, because I'm selecting multiple notes, and also the sustain pedal cc is outside ...

Sustain Pedal (cc64) and Editing
Hi everyone, I'm editing a solo MIDI piano for timing. I found out from here months ago, the awesome trick of "grow selection to end/beginning", where it selects everything either before or after the note for editing- e.g. I could make more or less time between passages. The performance in...

Re: Can't freeze tracks, out of buses- but not really (SOLVED)
Well it was user error. I had done a lot of freezing on this production, of FX etc. weeks ago, and I had forgotten to turn off the input buses on the frozen tracks. It makes sense- The track remains the freeze track and retains that bus assignment, until you unassigned it, so if you do multiple free...

Can't freeze tracks, out of buses- but not really (SOLVED)
I have a big project where there were 24 stereo buses in the bundles, but I had used most of them up. I had bus 47/48 free though. I wanted to freeze several MIDI/Drum tracks, one at a time. DP said I could not freeze because there were not enough stereo buses available, I had "0", and it ...

Re: How Can I Tell if a Plugin is Apple Silicon Native?
Look up an app called PlugInfo on the App Store. It’s $2.99 I think and worth every penny. It will show you all your installed plug ins, their version number and the architecture. This is awesome James, thanks for turning us onto it! I purchased it immediately. I don't have Apple Silicon yet, but I...

Thanks Bays, that's it! Page 405, “Throwing” soundbites to the next or previous soundbite. You simply use the control key.

Concatenating soundbites in a track?
Hey everyone, I have a concert to mix that is one hour long. I will also master it, and create a DDP for CDs. The multi-track is one contiguous project. The band has broken the ref track into 14 songs that, when played back to back chronologically, would be exactly the length of the project file, wi...

Re: Plug-in Updates Sticky Topic
I updated my Altiverb XL, it was $200.
I'm mixing in Dolby Atmos now, so these new features are excellent for me.
If it hasn't been mentioned, you have to relinquish your Altiverb 7 iLok license, when you upgrade to 8.

Re: "Real bands don't use tracks"
Real bands do use tracks, with a professional setup. Fake bands use their iPhones.
