Can the 828mk3 connect directly to a speaker amp by way of the XLR's or do I still have to have a audio console/pre-amp go between? I thought it could, perhaps I'm mistaken.

Same thing here. I even gave tech a sound bit of the difference, just to make sure they knew exactly what I was talking about. They have responded to most, 98% of my inquiries.

Not this one though and that was about a year ago, more or less.
