Re: How to do these things for drum programming?

For most of your needs as described, the Drum Editor window should be perfect. The manual chapter was very helpful for my getting started with the drum editor. You can certainly rename elements of the kit, select all notes of a certain pitch (select all snares on D1, for example) Also you can save t...

It's the Enter key.
I had to cross reference the chart on page 260 of the manual. :mrgreen:
Nice!
Thanks for letting me know!

Re: stickies?

The Lyric window, for me, is the single most helpful feature introduced to DP within the past 5 years. [Along with the Consolidated Window].
It's filled with notes pertaining to the DP file I'm working on. Love it!

Re: I lost mx4 with dp8 (in 64 bit)

As another option, I am running MX4 inside a VE-Pro 32 bit instance, which connects perfectly with DP, even with DP8 set to 64-bit operation. Works great!

Re: using Rhythm brush tool in Drum Editor-get snare on 2 &

Thanks so much for that solution! I would never have thought to use the Search function. I also found another solution: -set grid resolution to quarter note -set rhythm brush grid to half note -set offset grid to 1|000 [otherwise the notes will go on beats 1 and 3] -now paint away and the snares wil...

RESOLVED=Rhythm brush tool in Drum Editor-get snare on 2 & 4

I'm getting used to the Drum Editor window as I'm working on a dance track. I've read the manual but can't figure this out: I'm trying to use the Rhythm Brush tool to 'paint in' a simple snare pattern, with snare hits on beats 2 and 4. With view resolution set to 8th notes, when I try to paint in a ...

So are you using 1 consolidated window on each of the two screens, or just keeping a dedicated stand alone window like mixing board on the second monitor screen?

Re: DP 8.01 and Scrolling Wiper

I've tried desktop switching with DP, but the time lag is too slow for me when switching
between desktops. It literally gives me a headache after a while.

For my eyes, two real monitors side by side is still the way to go
until the desktop switching gets faster.

Re: Thunderbolt drives

If you don't have huge size requirements for storing your sample libraries, I think a great solution is an empty external USB3 enclosure or 2 with a 512gb SSD drive inside each one. The crucial 512GB ssd is now under $400. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=768804&Q=&...

Re: new music computer-->iMac or Mini??

Mike--thanks for your comments. You always have insightful comments about hardware, which I appreciate. In terms of CPU, RAM speed, SATA speed, system bus speed...either a top of the line mini or iMac will be an improvement over my Early 2008 mac Pro. And I would install a SSD if I purchased the min...

new music computer-->iMac or Mini??

It's almost time to replace my 4 year old Mac Pro. I'm seriously considering switching to either an iMac or Mini. I do 99% MIDI/VI work, single machine, no slaves. Currently have 18GB ram which has never been a limitation. In VE Pro, I think so far my highest RAM count has been 6 or 8 GB on my large...

Re: which hard drive for new iMac

If you're only using 300GB on your internal boot drive, I would choose the 1TB fusion option. Are you storing your sample libraries on a separate SATA hard drive inside the mac pro currently? How much GB of sample libraries do you have? If you have less than 500GB of sample libraries, I would put th...
