Re: Tips for setting up a new M2 max Mac Studio?

Thank you gentlemen. I’m up and running and very happy with workflow and abundance of cpu grunt. The only problem I had was caused by Acoustica ViennaSystemwide which was interrupting core audio device selection and clocking, causing Motu Audio System crashes. I was using the au plugin of Vienna to ...

Should I avoid the plugins that aren't or will Rosetta 2 look after that? There's some Plugin Alliance that aren't native and a few Izotope.

Tips for setting up a new M2 max Mac Studio?

I have just acquired an M2 Max Studio - standard model 32gb and 512 storage - for a great price, unopened box/unwanted gift. I’m about to set it up with DP and DSP Quattro, Waves, Izotope, Plugin Alliance, Softube, Zynaptiq and NI plugs - no VIs. I’ll only be doing mixing, stem and/or stereo masteri...

Re: Another track from recent mix and master project

This one, That’s How Songs are Born, was the most fun to mix.

Re: Another track from recent mix and master project

Another track from this album went to Number 1 on the Australian Radio Indie charts this week. I’ve mixed and/or mastered quite a few top 10 singles and albums over the years - this is my first number 1 :)

Another track from recent mix and master project

This track is “Things Fall Apart” from an album titled “The Thread” by Alex Smith - released earlier this year. Alex was the lead singer of Australian 80s outfit “Moving Pictures” who enjoyed major success in that decade, including a national number 1 album, number 1 single. Alex disappeared from th...

Video of a track from a recent project

Here’s a YouTube link to a video for a track from one of my more recent client projects. Chris Turner started out in the business in the early 60’s in London, moved with his family to New Zealand in the late 60’s and came to Australia shortly thereafter where he has remained. He was a member of semi...

Re: DSP Quattro — imbedding metadata

Hi Shooshie, I use DSP Quattro in my mastering work and can confirm the metadata is included in burnt CDs, DDP Files etc. You can see and verify the metadata on burnt CDs by using drutil (drive utility) commands in Terminal. If you open Terminal and type drutil then press enter you will see a list o...

Re: Original piece

Nice tune, Dave! Thanks Jon :) It's one of the current batch of neo-classical solo piano pieces that I hope to record during this year. The plan is to also record a guitar based band version of the 8 or so tracks. I think the band needs to sound darker - more activity in the drums and bass, more sy...

Original piece

Here's a track I recorded last year as a contribution to a friends 35th Anniversary compilatiom cd for his record label Big Rock Records. This is the first attempt at recording one of my more recent piano based compositions for a guitar based band. It was a bit of a rush job getting it done in time ...

Re: Do you like to wait and mix the entire album, or.....

I believe the tracking stage is part of the mix :) in as much as arrangement is vital to a good mix. Each recorded part should be a vital component in the arrangement and therefore the mix - "everything louder than everything else" The closer each recorded track is to sounding pe...
