Re: 828mk2 - output/input - Balanced cables or Not???

I would use TRS cables (balanced). You can use either +4 or -10 but both units need to be set the same. +4 is the professional standard, -10 is the consumer standard. The VLA has a button on the back. On the 828, you can dial in the setting or set it in QueMix (easier). Use any of the inputs 1-8 on ...

Re: Anyone know how to re-name the LM models?

There's a thread on GearSlutz here:
http://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-co ... eeder.html

He created snapshots to load the emulations by real name.

Re: DP6 on ancient PB G4 q's

Did an 18 track live recording @ 24/48 DP6.02 with a 1ghz PB 15" off a MOTU 828MKII and no problems at all - not even that much CPU stress. I've experimented a little and it can even take a wide variety of plugs without glitching. It's the VIs that make it choke. You may be able to get one or t...

Re: Snow Leopard-- September: $29 upgrade

$29 is amazingly cheap for the Intel folks, but ~$2000-$3000 for the PPC folks in another matter. I'm actually relieved that it will not be available for PPC. With Leopard, my system with both DP, PT and various plugs is the most stable it's ever been. I look forward to, hopefully, a couple of years...

Re: Which way to go for EW-SO. KONTAKT3 or PLAYER?

Can you tell more about the scripts? Where does one get them? (or write them)? How can they be used? (I just load up the patches right into Kontakt - it does lead to a lot of proliferation of patches though, unless one uses the keyswitch patches). Check out the links in Dr Johnny's post here: http:...

I've had mine at least six years. Try a factory reset on the 828mkII.

Re: Motu 828 MK2 Firewire -Firmware updates beyond 1.01?

1.01 is the last version. On the 828MKII you have to replace the eprom chip to upgrade the firmware - no downloading and flashing the rom.

Re: MOTU 828 MKII BOAT ANCHOR???

Two things I've experienced with the 828mkII are a sensitivity to low voltage and more recently, sensitivity to heat. If it locks up randomly or fails to power up properly - these could indicate bad power (something like your AC coming on can pull the power down pretty severely). Put it on a thru-ba...

Maybe that old G4/G5 processor nap issue that you had to fix by installing CHUD and unchecking 'Allow Nap". My G4 laptop still sings regularly until I stop the napping.

Then the pre-binding thing doesn't apply, but check the display setting anyway. Also, you mentioned the LAME MP3 framework - have you removed that also?

Re: MIDI system crash

I had this happen a while back. I'm guessing you're on Tiger? I cannot for the life of me remember specifically what the issue was, but I think it had something to do with the display resolution/profiles. Check that your color setting is millions and switch your calibration profile to generic. Resta...

Re: Is the Liquid Mix behaving with DP 6.02? [MAYBE]

Regarding the buffer, Focusrite has a formula. They say the optimum should be 2x the host buffer + 8. So, in the above setting of 2056, DP should have it's buffer set at 1024 (2x1024=2048+8=2056). It's in one of their tech notes. There were some pretty severe issues early on if the buffer was set on...

Re: Liquid Mix - Master-MasterCrush snapshot problems

Focusrite reposted the emulations last month with no explanations as to whether or not any were updated. I downloaded and installed, but did not check for any differences. They are here: http://www.focusrite.com/support/software/liquid_mix/ They just put up emulations that were not included in the o...
