Re: September Rising - 15 Years Later
Thanks for sharing, hadn't heard of this before now. I submit releases to Discogs on a regular basis — mostly local artists, non-Western artists, or other music that might not be catalogued for posterity. It would be great to include this. I can add it as long as someone who has the CD can: * confir...

Re: MIDI problems with Unisyn and Snow Leopard
I admire your tenacity, but it sounds like it's time to spring for a MidiQuest license. Looks like you've already tried all of the reasonable troubleshooting ideas. Any further troubleshooting would likely be "throw it at the wall and see if it sticks" suggestions — different MIDI ports, d...

Re: Machfive 4 this year?
But I have some MachFive libraries that probably are captive to that product. YMMV, but the MachFive programs and multis I have on hand all load in Falcon, even files from MachFive v1. Other UVI-based libraries from MOTU (MSI, Ethno, etc.) all load in Falcon for me as well. I'd say give your M5 fil...

MX4 was done internally by MOTU; it wasn't a UVI product.mhschmieder wrote:Wasn't MX4 also developed by UVI?.

We need one standard to rule them all!

Re: shortcut for window tabs
There's not, unfortunately.
You can sort of approximate it if you configure the Consolidated Window to use a maximum of 1 row in the body section; when you invoke the windows' normal keyboard shortcuts (Shift-S, Shift-T, etc.) the new window will replace the old one.

Re: DROBO and DP?
What filesystem do the disks use? If it's anything other than HFS+, I'd keep your DP projects away from it.

Re: pads play mode settings
Try adjusting the amplitude envelope. By default most pads uses an AHD envelope, but you can switch them to ADSR as you please.

Re: machfive: no bounce?
When both MAS and AU versions of a plug-in are installed, the AU version is disabled. After you pulled the MAS version, the AU version is installed but probably still disabled. Go to Digital Performer menu > Preferences and go to the Audio Plug-ins page. Locate MachFive2; if the box next to it is un...

Re: MachFive 3 at NAMM
Care to elaborate on that? I've heard that the iLok 2 is newer and supposedly more secure technology, but I haven't yet heard any reports that it's "more intrusive" than the original iLok. More secure = more intrusive. To be clear, it now has different tiers of protection. It is the highe...

Re: machfive: no bounce?
At one point in time, instrument tracks were not included at all when bouncing to disk in DP. Somewhere along the line, DP was updated so that AU instruments and most MAS instruments were included in the bounce, but some older MAS plug-ins required an update to for this to work. Unfortunately, the M...

Re: 2408 MK2 and a laptop
The 2408mk2 communicates with the computer via a PCI card; since laptops don't have regular ol' PCI slots, you'd have to purchase some sort of PCI card chassis that connects via your laptop's expansion port (ExpressCard slot, for example). Those chassis are usually expensive — for the same price or ...

Re: Is DP 32 bit floating point?
If the file format is set to Sound Designer II, you can only choose 16- or 24-bit integer; 32-bit floating point is not available for SDII. If you want to use 32-bit floating point for the audio file sample format, choose AIFF or WAVE as the file format.

Re: UVI Wurli Piano $19.99
The sounds are probably excellent, but be aware that a limitation of the Mac App Store is that only standalone applications are offered — no plug-in versions.
