Re: Soundbites Window Empty! All Edit data lost.

Hi guys, Sorry for my delayed follow up. I've been ... well ... editing drums and creating tens of thousands of soundbites. :shake: The good news is that I have not had the problem appear again. I've adopted a new practice of editing 10 bars or so (with on average 8 edits per bar), making sure my tr...

Re: Soundbites Window Empty! All Edit data lost.

Guys, do you think it's a DP limitation? Or could it be a problem with a drive containing more files than it can recognize? Is that even remotely possible? The reason I ask is that about 18 months ago I lost a 2TB hard drive. Letta me tella you: Thatsa lotta filesa. It began acting strangely. Disk ...

Re: UAD users - have you ever seen this?

Dave, yes, I definitely experienced this problem a lot when I was using UAD-1 cards in a Magma chassis and running a lot of plug-ins (and high intensity ones like the Neve plugs). Your workaround as described in your o/p was always the solution. Bothersome, yes, but it worked. I upgraded to a UAD-2 ...

Re: Soundbites Window Empty! All Edit data lost.

The only thing I forgot to mention is be careful to not delete your master recording material (original performance). Once you start to edit it and use the edited version, the original soundbite will also appear as "unused" and get deleted with the rest if you're not aware it has been sel...

Re: Soundbites Window Empty! All Edit data lost.

I wonder if this is related to the problem I have had a couple of times, where a track "appears" to be empty while containing soundbites and playing them back faithfully, incl. automation. It's not a View Filter issue since it happened only with a single track out of many. In the couple o...

Re: Soundbites Window Empty! All Edit data lost.

Thanks for your reply, Dave. I am a big believer in the Merge Soundbites idea and also the "Save As" with Soundbites. In this case, neither of those would help me as my project is for editing drums only. I have the original complete files, both from Pro Tools and the imported version that ...

Re: Soundbites Window Empty! All Edit data lost.

@ Erik and the o/p: Duplicate your last working version, go to the soundbites window and "Select Unused Soundbites" from the dropdown. Then select "delete" and save the file. Make a few thousand edits ☺ and save and see if they remain. My guess is that (to paraphrase from the mo...

Re: Soundbites Window Empty! All Edit data lost.

@MIDI Life Crisis, thanks for your reply. I'm going to do just that and will report back. I'm going to try merging some of the new edited soundbites as well to try to reduce the soundbite count. @db13231, does your problem project by any chance also have a freakishly high number of soundbites? BTW, ...

Re: Soundbites Window Empty! All Edit data lost.

Hi all, I have just encountered the exact same problem as db13231. Here's my story ... I started a new project yesterday to edit drum tracks recorded in Pro Tools (26 tracks, 24-bit, 48kHz). The song is about 6 minutes long, and I went through the arduous process of going through nearly every kick, ...

Re: e-Licenser + PPC + 10.4.11 = not good

I like iLok ok, but I agree that it's kind of large and vulnerable hanging on the typical USB port. I keep my two iLoks and one Synchrosoft Key on a Kensington USB hub where they are out of the way and not as likely to get smashed by humans, canines or felines. I also keep a spare in a drawer, read...

Re: Spectrum Analyzer

 Don´t forget DP comes with MW Equalizer with the great Spectrum view function!!!! Of course. Here's my tip : - set a DP trim plug to +10dB before MW-EQ - set a DP trim plug to -10dB after MW-EQ. Then you'll be able to really *see* something in the analyser window of WW-EQ. If you don't, many...

You can also de-select and re-select the track in the mixer track selector window with a basic double click gesture. That wakes up the fader, too.

Re: Spectrum Analyzer

I like and use Waves PAZ, but also don't forget the spectrum analyzer built in to the Masterworks EQ plug-in. Just click the FFT button on the right side, and there's a basic spectrum analyzer right there in DP! :D
I use it all the time.

Cheers,
Erik

Re: Drum trigger audio to MIDI

Wow, what an insightful and informative thread. Thanks for all your work Erik. Details matter! Dopamine, thanks. I have been frustrated with this issue for so long, I really wanted to quantify and document it so that it ultimately may be solved ! this task went from 2 hours to 20 minutes on a five ...
