Does your new computer has a Firewire-Port with a Texas Instrumets or Lucient/Algere chip on it?
That could be the problem as Firewire interfaces are known to have problems with especially VIA or similar cheep firewire chipsets.

Hi Folks. I might have a simple workaround for audio dropouts with Motu 828 MKII USB 2.0 interface. I tested it now for two days and I didn't had a single dropout!! Although the clicks at the beginning of playback or after skipping are not completly gone. I can't promise that it'll work for everyone...
