Kontakt vs. SoundFont
I'm looking at some sample libraries from Digital Sound Factory. They offer both Kontakt format and SoundFont format; would they both work the same with Mach V, or does one format have better compatibility?

Lyrics in DP8
Can anyone comment on whether the lyrics function has been fixed in DP8? Does it properly anchor lyrics to the notes, instead of the position on the page?

Re: DP could learn from Logic - Here's how
I use reshape a lot, since selecting anything with a generous swipe is easier than grabbing the tiny chicken-foot. This is the best motunation post evvvvvvaaaaaarrrr! I hope MOTU puts this in the next manual: "To edit velocities, adjust the view selector until chicken-feet appear on your scree...

Re: Pro Tools HD NATIVE
Completely and utterly UNDERWHELMED :shake: I think people are missing the significance of this PT9 release. The software now runs natively on any Mac, and does NOT require any Avid audio interfaces or DSP hardware. The track counts have been raised significantly, and many features that used to cos...

Re: for DP/PTools users, PTools for Snow Leopard (finally)
I can't believe they would actually introduce yet another version of ProTools. Their product matrix (and website) is a jumbled, confusing mess of versions, all with different feature sets, limitations, hardware requirements, etc. It's reminiscent of Apple 15 years ago, when they had probably a doze...

Re: 7.0.2 processor spikes
The spiking happens both during playback and record (24 tracks). There are NO plugins running at all, and the CPU meter barely shows 10%. OS X 10.6.2, with two Intel SSDs. Sample rate is 48k.

7.0.2 processor spikes
I'm getting processor spikes and warning messages in 7.0.2. MOTU said to increase the record buffer size; I changed it to 2048 and still get random spikes and warnings. I also tried changing the "work priority" settings and it didn't seem to have any effect. Does anyone know some other voo...

Re: for DP/PTools users, PTools for Snow Leopard (finally)
With all of the moves that Avid has been pulling lately, this should not be a surprise. The thing that surprised me the most was the introduction of PT Essentials a while back. I can't believe they would actually introduce yet another version of ProTools. Their product matrix (and website) is a jum...

Anyone have any news about this problem? I just upgraded to SL and now I have the same problem. (DP 7.0.2)

Lyrics in DP7 Quickscribe: Epic Fail
I'm doing some vocal work now, and can sadly confirm the profound problems with lyrics in QuickScribe. I had to snip about 8 bars of music out of a vocal arrangement. The notes after the snip point of course moved 8 bars earlier, but the lyrics stayed in the same bars they were originally placed. Th...

Re: DP 7.01 out now - UPDATED
I'd have to agree that it's the Nomad Factory plugins, since I've been messing around in them so extensively. BUT... they did NOT do that in DP 7.0 on the two or three days that I was auditioning presets pretty much the same way I am now. So, what's causing this? If you have a repeatable crash in D...

Re: Lexicon announces Native Reverb plug!
...With Altiverb, Breverb, ProVerb, AdVerb, VerbVerb---- and the rest--- already out there, I really wonder if Lexicon's reputed quality can really sway discerning ears and wallets. If Digidesign can convince some people to buy $10k worth of redundant DSP hardware, Lexicon can probably convince the...

Re: DP7 first impressions
...I just saw this video of an insane sonar mix video with quicktime, all running 64 bit with the 32 bit bridges, and wow! 140 track count session with no lag at all doing anything! I can't wait to be full 64 bit on my macs! I'm sure DP7 and Cubase will be sick at 64 bit. :D Makes me wonder how Dig...

I looked in DP7 and did not see any support for staccato, accents, slurs, etc.
