Re: End of the road?: 1st/2nd gen Motu 896 and thunderbolt 3
Look into Landing Zone instead of all the adapters. Also not every USB C connector is a Thunderbolt port. I have the 15" with touch bar. The closest one on the left is NOT Thunderbolt. The two on the right and the top left one are. Check and see which ports are Thunderbolt for you. Then you sh...

Re: End of the road?: 1st/2nd gen Motu 896 and thunderbolt 3
Alright so, it IS working now. I decided to give it another whirl despite hours trying to get the MOTUs to register. I uninstalled all of the drivers, restarted the system, installed the newest available drivers on the website. I slowly connected each adapter, tried a different FW800->FW400 cable, a...

End of the road?: 1st/2nd gen Motu 896 and thunderbolt 3
Macbook 13" 2017 touchbar with 4 thunderbolt 3 ports and High Sierra. I tried using a comical amount of adapters but I couldn't get my 1st gen MOTU 896's or MOTU 896HD to work to show up at all. Had to buy $100+ dollars in adapters to try it: thunderbolt 3 -> thunderbolt 2, thunderbolt 2 -> FW8...

Re: Lack of supported Windows10 Drivers
Wow so if I understand correctly, you're not using the motu driver at all? And instead have your moth device running properly with third party driver?

Windows 7 64-bit and older firewire interfaces
IMPORTANT UPDATE: Unfortunately No sound will output. It's very strange as I can record into Cubase from any of my inputs, and I can "see" the outputs as options within all of the software, but nothing comes out of the MOTU nor do I get any meter bounce. I'm still investigating.. Just thou...

Re: Looking for: 64-bit 3.6.7.4 driver. Anyone?
Just for the sake of keeping this documented, I now have 3.6.7.3 working great under Win 7 64-bit. The trick was to "Update Driver..." of the 1394 FireWire card to the "OHCI 1394 (legacy)" driver, and THEN install Motu 3.6.7.3 x64 driver. Then everything picks up properly.

Re: Looking for: 64-bit 3.6.7.4 driver. Anyone?
Hey Terry, I'm a loooong time motu user and have just made the jump from xp 32 bit to win 7 64 bit and I'm running an older system and older motu's. 3x 896 original and 1x 896 HD all daisy chained. The drivers prior to 3.6.8.x had way more favorable latency times and also allowed for re-ordering the...

Looking for: 64-bit 3.6.7.4 driver. Anyone?
Looking for this high and low on the web but can't find an actual download link. Would someone out there mind posting it? Thanks!

Re: 8pre, Windows 7 64bit, multiple issues
This wouldn't be THE Paddy Kahn from T.O. would it? In any case, the problem you describe echoes that of problems first experienced in Windows XP Service Pack 2 (aka SP2). If you want to read all about it go here: http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=31518 . The "long-story-...

Totally doable in XP. Lots of discussion on this last year:

Re: FIX: Running Motu FW devices in XP SP2, SP3
That is a good idea to bring down my laptop and 828 Mk3 to the store and hook it up with a 2nd 828 and see how it goes. Hey Bill, Definitely worth while to do so. And I should further clarify that if you do get it up and running, you should purchase the actual 828 that you test even if it's just a ...

Hey Bill, The odds are not in your favor, but if you do want to pursue it then you should read this first as it would provide the method of making it work: http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=34558&view=unread#unread" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I...

Re: Small pops/clicks
You likely have un-related software running in the background that is regularly sucking processing power from the CPU. As a start, open task manager and set the list so that processes with highest CPU usages are listed at the top. Keep an eye out for a process that spikes the CPU usage at the same t...

Hey pmd,
Congrats on getting things working. One suggestion that I strongly encourage is to create a bootable drive-image recovery disc for your system. My system is backed-up in this way and the restoring process takes about 20 minutes instead of at least a full afternoon.
