DP 6 and Pitch...

Hi. After watching the pitch tutorial on this forum I decided to try it out in DP 6. But when I activate it on a track, all I get are the blue squares that represent the notes, not the squiggly lines that represent intonation, vibrato etc. I :rtfmmad: and can't seem to find why this would be. Any id...

Mac Pro dosen't see 828mk3

Hi I've got a Mac Pro and 828mk3 setup that I've had for roughly 3 years. Recently I've noticed that when I fire everything up, sometimes it appears that the Mac dosen't "see" the 828. When I go into DP6 none of the 828's ins or outs are available, only the internal on the Mac. It seems li...

Re: GPlayer and DP6

Something else I'm wondering about. I'm loading in the Giga samples off the original disks. Most show a typical blue folder in them w/the samples when opened. But some only show a .exe file. Clicking on this pretty much sends my Mac into a seizure. Is there any way to get to the samples on these dis...

GPlayer and DP6

Hi all. I've been using GigaStudio on a PC, like a big sound module. Last week the Motherboard in this computer bit the big one, and I've been scrambling for a workaround. Then I stumbled on GPlayer by Soundlib.com. Basically it plays Giga samples as a VI in DP, no conversion needed. Problem SOLVED!...

Can Mach 5 do this?

I've been running a windows computer w/GigaStudio 2.5, basically as a big sound module. The other day the motherboard in this computer bit the big one, and pretty much is in need of a total rebuild. This got me thinking about getting Mach 5 for my Mac Pro (my main studio machine, running DP6). The t...

Copying mixer settings between projects

I've got a demo session of a band, 6 short songs each in their own project folder. Is there any way to copy mixer settings, ie, plugins, sends, volume, pan,etc from one project to another? I figure if I can do this it will give me a jumping off spot on subsequent mixes after I've got the first one n...

Re: Poll over at Gearsl*ts...

So what is the main beef against DP over there? What do they say in summary? The main beef seems to be that DP does not "sound" pro enough...that mixes done in Pro Tools are "wider", "deeper", "better stereo image", "[insert your favorite audio generaliz...

Re: Poll over at Gearsl*ts...

Please guys! If you hang out at GS at all you know that NOBODY does pro work in DP :D You also know that you don't even own a studio if you don't have at least 100k worth of tasty vintage gear....

Harrison Mixbus

I've been seeing reports here and there about the Harrison Mixbus. My question is probably pretty basic but how does this interface w/DP? Also if any of you DP'ers using it could give me some idea as to your experience using it that would be cool as well. Thanks!

Re: Meoldyne and DP 6

OK...figured it out. It's been a LONG time since I used Melodyne and I forgot about this one interesting wrinkle- I've got MOTU Symphonic Instruments on my 'puter and for some unknown reason Melodyne will not open w/the Ilok key for SI installed. If I remove the Ilok key Melodyne opens fine. Kind of...

Meoldyne and DP 6

This is what I LOVE about computers... I've had Melodyne on my computer w/DP 6 for the better part of a year now and it has worked flawlessly...until today. i tried to open Melodyne on a track and everytime I get an unexpected quit in DP. I haven't changed or installed anything new in my system, and...

OK, Here's a weird one....

I'm using a 828mk3 w/DP 6. Setting up for a session and checking connections from my mixer to the 828. I have signal running to all 8 analog ins, and I have DP set for direct hardware playthru. If i plug, say, a keyboard into input #5 and play it works fine AS LONG AS I don't have analog #7 record e...

Thanks all. I picked up Elephant, and I think it's going to fill the bill.

3rd Party limiter for DP

Hi. I'm looking for a limiter to use as a plug in DP 6, mostly to pump up the volume a bit on mixes I give clients to listen to at home, not really for final mastering. The MasterWorks limiter seems ok, but it seems like it gets kind of "crunchy" sounding really fast. I was curious what yo...
