Computer screen switches
Hey guys, I have two stations, one at the piano keyboard and one at the mixing location. I have two computer screens at each station for a total of four screens. I cannot seem to locate a switch box whereas I can choose between one pair of computer screens or the other. A cursory search proved unfru...

Re: DP 9.12 out now.
Still never upgrading to this version until I have the ability to completely disable the Pre-Gen engine, and can be sure I won't get audio dropouts while editing and random audio glitches when BTD or merging soundbites. Don't have time for that crap. Couldn't agree with you more. There must be a re...

Re: DP 9.12 out now.
Page 842 Pre-gen operation with 3rd-party plug-ins MOTU works hard to ensure a high level of compatibility with 3rd-party virtual instruments and effects. There may be cases where pregeneration may not work as expected with a given 3rd-party plug-in. These cases should be reported to MOTU and the pl...

Re: Dead horse, apologies..from OS 10.8.5 to OS X Yosemite 1
If you boot from an SSD, you no longer need Cindori to enable TRIM. The following command in Terminal is better: sudo trimforce enable Good stuff, mate! As usual, pardon my ignorance, but could you explain the Cindori / TRIM comment? I admit I am clueless about both of those terms and what that mea...

Dead horse, apologies..from OS 10.8.5 to OS X Yosemite 10.10
For a host of reasons (like implementing Apple's Family Share plan) and updating all of our iPhones, I'm thinking of making the jump to Yosemite 10.10. It is a two step jump for me, so it scares the you know what out of me regarding DP and all the VI's installed on the Mac Pro. Any feedback, good, b...

Re: Which refurb'd Mac Mini for DP?
Guys, thanks for the input!
I picked up the last refurbished Apple Mac mini (2012) 2.3GHz Quad Core i7: Thunderbolt, 4GB RAM, 1.0TB HDD OWC has right now, so I can rig it with 16G RAM and add an SSD drive to boot from. Should work great for my remote setup.

Re: Which refurb'd Mac Mini for DP?
Chris, if space is not an issue and you don't need Thunderbolt, consider a 4,1 Mac Pro for $500, leaving you an upgrade path to hex CPU and easy memory/storage expansion. http://www.macofalltrades.com/Mac-Pro-1x-2-66GHz-QC-Xeon-Early-2009-p/mp-266-4c-e09a.htm As usual, HC, very helpful, thank you! ...

Which refurb'd Mac Mini for DP?
Ok Mike H, David P, and all you other intelligent folks out there that know way more than yours truly about this, I need your opinion on which Mac Mini would do the best job running DP. This would be for a remote recording setup to do simple to moderate recording and editing, running Kontact, Omnisp...

Re: Recommended Windows laptop for remote setup?
Fact is, Finale runs better on a Windows machine and there are music handwriting recognition apps for the PC. None for the Mac I am aware of. I hate PCs, but I'll probably make my next laptop a PC if Apple keeps going in the current direction. Right on, Mike. I want a setup to take to my folk's lit...

Re: Recommended Windows laptop for remote setup?
The expense, mainly. Windows machines look to be half the price for similar horsepower. Figured I'd give it a try with the Windows route.rickorick wrote:Why not look for a used Macbook Pro?

Recommended Windows laptop for remote setup?
I realize this has probably been discussed plenty, and is a pretty rudimentary question, but... Long time Mac / DP user here and want to set up a remote system to work from. (Working in DP is the full time job.) Assuming getting a Windows laptop is the least expensive option to go with for this, and...

Re: New string quartet library from Spitfire: Sacconi String
Used sparingly, would be very effective. I think I'm gonna' make a purchase. You won't regret, brother Markus. I most certainly will (am) not. Other's complaints about built-in (natural) vibrato duly noted, but just have to say the Tina Guo legato cello is simply gorgeous sounding, and very effecti...
