Re: 8.07 is out!

"Double check to see that when you installed it, it didn't reset your buffer size or anything like that. Long shot, but just maybe..." Thanks James, that was the first thing I tried - negative, buffer size was not changed by the installation. I'm already running at 512 buffer, setting buff...

Re: 8.07 is out!

Downloaded DP 8.07 - repaired permissions - have noticed a significantly larger performance hit using DP 8.07 on my system than when opening files that run easily in DP 8.04 (I couldn't run 8.05 & 8.06 because of a bug that made DP crash when you opened a movie while running multiple mirrored mo...

Re: How do you handle the movie audio when doing a cue?

I see just as labour intensive as my method except you don't duplicate the movie audio with each cue. Hopefully in DP 8 this process will be simpler - since they've announced that in DP 8 the quicktime audio will play back in perfect sync - we might not have to copy and paste production audio into ...

Re: How do you handle the movie audio when doing a cue?

FWIW, this is how I do it - hope this helps. When scoring a film, to begin I open the Quicktime Movie in DP and set up a chunk ("Entire Film") that starts 10 seconds before the first frame of picture, usually 0:59:59:50. I then import the film's audio to two audio tracks in the chunk, &quo...

Re: DP and Omnisphere Memory Leak

I was also having memory issues on large DP projects, so I looked up the Spectrasonics FAQs for DP: ---------------------- http://support.spectrasonics.net/viewtopic.php?t=244" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; "Digital Performer Issues? Pre-rendering Omnisphere is not com...

Re: Now you can record MIDI to a real acoustic piano on-line

Hi everyone, FYI, I've been doing remote, audiophile Disklavier recordings of client's MIDI files for years (but not for $10/minute delivered!). Solo piano CDs, featured piano parts for film/TV cues, performed from client's MIDI files, recorded in stereo and surround. Yamaha FII Conservatory C7 Disk...

Re: Screencast of Composing with DP and Bidule

Glad that Bidule is working so well for you, Gabe. Personally, I'd like to see interapplication audio implemented as part of DP - so we could input audio from standalone VIs running outside of DP directly into DP, instead of having to use ADAT outs and ins like we do now. I believe the audio unit sp...

Re: Screencast of Composing with DP and Bidule

Gabe S. said: "In my experience, I would say, only go out of DP if you absolutely have to." Great thread guys! In my case (film and TV scoring), my template requires way more ram than one instance of DP provides. With 16GB ram on a Mac Pro Intel (2007), OSX 10.4.11, I use 3 large instances...

Glad to hear that you're not having this problem Grimepoch. I wouldn't think that MOTU would release a version that does this on purpose. My edits take forever with no sequence editor window open... Maybe there's some preference file or some other file that I should trash and then rebuild?? Still wa...

Thanks Mr Clifford for that. Good to know.
Any ideas on the editing time? Is anyone else experiencing this?

DP 6.0 edits take long time - ideas?

Sent a Tech Link to MOTU. While I'm waiting for their response, I thought I'd ask the forum: I've been working in 6.0 exclusively for a few weeks now. I've noticed that simple audio edits - copy, paste, for example, take incredibly long. Sometimes over a minute just to copy a short 2 second mono sou...

VSL VE3 & DP - How's it working for you?

Anyone successfully running DP on a Mac with PC slaves running VE3? How's the performance & reliability? Do you have to reload VSL sounds every time you open a new chunk in DP? I run VE2 now on an 8 core Mac Pro, 16 GB ram. I'm considering buying PC slaves to load multiple instances of VE3, runn...

I just upgraded to an Intel Mac Pro 8 core, 9G ram, Sys 10.4.10, DP 5.12. Since yesterday, with help from other users on the VSL Forum, I've gotten 4 fully loaded instances of Vienna Ensemble working, being controlled by DP on the one Mac. This uses all of the instruments and articulations from VSL ...

I have to agree with you, James, that Quicktime movies look better on a standard tv than on a computer monitor. Yes, in my recent experiment with the Canopus ADVC110, sync offset was drifting at random. Perhaps that was due to my underpowered CPU, perhaps due to which FW bus I was streaming video an...
