DP movie window darker than QT outside DP

I'm curious to know if anyone else has this issue. I'm scoring a film, using DP's movie window to display the movie on my computer monitors (no firewire output). The video is a lot darker than when I view it outside DP in QT 7 or 10. Any idea why this might be happening, or if there's a way to fix i...

Re: Is it okay...?

Thanks so much for sharing, Frodo! Lovely words to ponder as I settle in for an evening of scoring before heading home to make my wife happy with a late supper when she gets in from a long night's work bartending.

Re: Movie Window Slowing Down Everything Else

As MLC mentioned, the actual codec in the quicktime could be a factor. Some highly compressed formats like H.264 use quite a bit of CPU horsepower to decompress the frames of the movie for display. Great for reducing file size, but not great when there's other work I'd rather have my CPU doing! I've...

Re: NI B4 does not load

FWIW, I just threw an instance of B4 into a project and it seems to be working just fine. I only just got around to updating to Snow Leopard a couple of weeks ago, and reinstalled B4 along with the rest of Komplete 5 from my original installer discs.

Finally, a way to organize your MIDIs

I seriously laughed out loud at this one, as anyone who's ever tried organizing MIDIs will understand.

Re: Meter Bridge - what is used for?

I use it for checking busses, auxes, inputs, etc., so I can make sure I'm not inadvertently clipping somewhere that's not showing up in the mixer.

Re: How do i LOCK (not SMTPE Lock but physically) Audio Trac

If I'm editing in the SE, I tend to use the track selector so I'm only viewing the tracks I'm working on, since if I can't see 'em, I can't edit or nudge them by mistake. I also often set user timestamps for sync soundbites, so if I nudge them inadvertently I can put them back in place quite easily.

SOS Digital Performer Notes had a feature on aux sends a while back: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/feb11/a ... p-0211.htm

might be something of use there for you.

From memory, I think it's "exclusive arm", and there's also an "exclusive solo" button.

Enjoy, Live really is quite unique and an excellent complement to DP.

Re: Generally Speaking - Scoring Events

I'm in total agreement with MLC, and find that bending, folding and spindling the conductor track to work with picture is a huge part of the job. While I may have themes, ideas, etc. sketched out before working on a particular scene, I generally try to get to a point where I can watch the scene with...

Re: Find tempo question

I can't comment on the finding tempo aspect of your post, but I generally do use one sequence per cue. I bounce the cue to audio in the sequence, time-stamp it, and then put it into a sequence where I have all the cues compiled to keep an overview. In my compilation sequence I keep tracks locked to ...
