As MLC mentioned, the actual codec in the quicktime could be a factor. Some highly compressed formats like H.264 use quite a bit of CPU horsepower to decompress the frames of the movie for display. FWIW, I just threw an instance of B4 into a project and it seems to be working just fine. I only just got around to updating to Snow Leopard a couple of weeks ago, and reinstalled B4 along with the rest of Komplete 5 from my original installer discs.

I use it for checking busses, auxes, inputs, etc., so I can make sure I'm not inadvertently clipping somewhere that's not showing up in the mixer.

If I'm editing in the SE, I tend to use the track selector so I'm only viewing the tracks I'm working on, since if I can't see 'em, I can't edit or nudge them by mistake. I also often set user timestamps for sync soundbites, so if I nudge them inadvertently I can put them back in place quite easily.

I can't comment on the finding tempo aspect of your post, but I generally do use one sequence per cue.
