Re: Waveforms not centered on the 0 line
Wow.. Cool old thread I happened to Google when I noticed the waveform display on Sound Cloud was always more above the line than centered.. but everything is displayed that way. Subsonic - in answer to your question. Yes. If you had a power amp that was ≈ flat to DC….. Put a 9v battery to test a su...

Re: Advice on remote, social media production
BTW - No I am not whoring out for work on here - This is something I want to do pro bono, for free, no charge just to garner the learning experience of doing the production from start to finish with a new, possibly hip sound; find the band, discuss, talk, rehearse, recording the rehearsals, edit, tal...

Advice on remote, social media production
Here is what I want to do to get one more notch under my belt. Any thoughts on where or how to approach this - I'm all ears. I want to produce a band from afar via email, web, social media chat, email, FTP of tracks, ideas , mixes overdubs etc I know this is nothing new. I have done portions of thi...

Re: Making Cd masters for replication in dp and iTunes
1- How is cd making directly in dp I researched this extensively when I still had a Digi Master list station and people still listened to music on CD's . . . burning a CD directly out of DP. I thought it would be the coolest thing ever to 'see' the entire CD tracks and then drop in markers to place...

Re: Clciks, stutters, pops with 424 but not fire wire
Correct. I just use one at a time. I went back to the same project to track some more guitars over the weekend after running a few ref mix via the Alessis, made a note of the allesis settings and 64 samples buffer ... configged the 24 i/o at 64 samples and the same settings and although peaks on the...

Re: Clciks, stutters, pops with 424 but not fire wire
Thanx for your thoughts.... The only change that 'tweaked' the 424 PCIx was to bring the buffers up to 256 / 512 - where I normally run them- to get rid of the clicks. I just did a quick mix in the box of the song using the Alesis io 14 with the buffer size at 64 - the lowest I can go- and it played...

Clciks, stutters, pops with 424 but not fire wire
As any one else experienced / noticed this when using a PCIx card (424) and 24 i/o motu system verses any old fire wire i/o ? In my test an Allesis Fire Wire IO14 running on an older snail, 2 x quad 2.8 MAC… I was building a mix using the IO14 - just a main stereo out - to set up before I had to tra...

Re: Advice on recording vocals while playing keyboard
Hi Danny, Waiting for my wort (beer) to cool. Typically if I am doing a live vocals and keys it is an acoustic piano so there are two mic sources to contend with. If it is an electric keyboard just record the line out and there will be no vocals in the keys and all you have to contend with is the ke...

Re: MiC pre shoot out
OK ignore my asking about how it was recorded... I should learn to scroll..... Referencing the PRE's it reads that the comparison pre's are an insert after the fact. The initial MIC is fed the same load to the same ' neutral ' pre, recorded and then played back through the various PRE's under test. ...

Re: MiC pre shoot out
I wish there was a bit more info about the tracks, set up, MICs used. I did a quick listen of several MIC pre's with the acoustic Guitar track. Wondering how this was recorded the exact same way each time (and assuming all the other choices on the sight are the same performance but with MIC a-z or P...

MiC pre shoot out
MiC pre shoot out Recently while selling some old AMPEX Preamps on bay I started wondering who buys this stuff? Why? I'd like to hear a comparison of 'vintage' verses practical MIC preamps of the same performance with the same MIC. Any one have some comparison samples they have done to share? Can M...

Re: Starving A.....s?
@ sooshie, I agree with what you wrote. I was a bit worried that if I returned to this forum I would be slammed with breaches of web based social networking protocol. I agree one can only follow the formula to a pop hit but will it become one? Most likely not but it has a better chance if, to be blu...

Starving A.....s?
TOO MANY LAME EXCUSES or I Need More Absinthe I hope this is the proper gripe page… but this is not a gripe towards software or hardware manufactures, or music pirates, Record labels, live venues, moderators etc but the starving artists out there. Also this is more of a way to clear my head after a...
