Re: DP9 release event in Los Angeles 2015

One of the things I was intrigued by was mention of an iPad app called V-Control Pro by Neyrinck. Have any of you used it? With DP9? Is it worth the $50 price tag? Have it. Use it on my iPad Air 2. Works very well. Was worth the $50 for me. TouchOSC is a cheaper alternative...but you have to set it...

Re: DP9 now shipping.

My that's quite a list. It's from a beta tester apparently. I wonder why MOTU doesn't publish complete change logs. btw, it also says "I left out most of the bug fixes, but let me know if you were hoping for a fix to a specific bug and I can tell you whether we were able to address it for 9.0....

Re: DP9 now shipping.

Is it weird that even though we now have a searchable PDF manual in DP that is pretty much all that gets used when looking up issues, I still want (and did) purchase the boxed set so I can also have the nice printed version?

Nostalgia I guess. :unicorn:

Re: Syncing slave computer (MIDIoverLAN, Bidule)

Yeah....the new MAS version of VEPro does not have that limitation and works great. Seriously. VEPro makes working with external slaves so much more elegant, especially now. Just do it. :woohoo: :headbang: :headbang:

Re: Vienna Ensemble Pro will add MAS support !!

I think it's a leftover from when DP had a unique interface pre-OS X, only used SD2, used that weird plugin format, and had a window for everything. If I look at a screen shot of DP 4/5 now, it does look weird. Sound Designer 2 files were created by DigiDesign as the standard for Pro Tools at the t...

Re: Vienna or EastWest?

East West (in my opinion) is a whole lot of marketing…lots of sales…and lots of headaches with their PLAY engine. Vienna is a bit too dry for my tastes. When used with their MIR stage positioning software and a convolution reverb, the results can be very good…but for me too much hassle overall. Take...

Re: Vienna Ensemble Pro will add MAS support !!

For what it is worth….Logic is still pretty much coded and updated by the original eMagic guys in Germany. It is not like Apple moved development to Cuppertino and threw a hundred programmers on the Logic Team. At our SCOREcast NAMM dinner (held at the same El Torito the MOTU dinner is just on Sat n...

Re: Vienna Ensemble Pro will add MAS support !!

I frequently get asked in the UCLA film scoring certificate program (where I moonlight as one of their instructors)...which DAW is the best? My answer: "The one you are the most efficient with." And I honestly do mean that. Then they ask me which one I use...and I answer, "Digital Per...

Re: Vienna Ensemble Pro will add MAS support !!

VEPro 5 will have an MAS version. I am not on their Beta team but they sent me the beta version to try out at NAMM. I am pretty impressed thus far. I have a rather large template so I have not run it though the complete ringer yet. So don't ask me yet if such and such is working. But first thoughts ...

Re: Using the Avid Pro Tools keyboard with DP..

Or...you could buy these for your existing keyboards (Mac and laptop) and just use DP's own key commands...if having the shortcuts on the keyboard are the only reason you would be changing all of DPs commands to match PT.

To all contributors, THANK YOU! I'll dive in with these tips in mind. However, I'm not sure what the " old school slate/clapper-board " is. Can I find it a Walmart? ...got time for a hint? I appreciate your suggestions. Ah! New adventures to places I've never been. http://www.bhpho...

Re: Hardware for separate Video Out-DP8

If anybody else has any insight, I'd sure appreciate it too. I'm happy to wrong about any of the above, as I've been banging my head against the wall for a while on this problem. While on the phone with MOTU, I did let them know that this is a point of pain for some of us who want to sync a large s...
