Mapping from BFD2 and Battery into DP?
Hey folks, after a long spell with not having used DP I'm again intrigued by the built in Drum Editor. However, I'm finding it a little confusing, not the Drum Editor itself, but rather the mapping of VI's into it. I know how to create a range of MIDI notes, say C0 to B2 in say, in the Drum Editor r...

Re: New Devo reunion album recorded using Digital Performer
The song "Mongoloid" doesn't particularly have anything to do with Down's Syndrome or anything else either- it's a song about the shallowness of American culture, how a person can have a job, make money, and yet be completely shallow and stupid, and no one will notice or care. Sure, it's a...

Here is a Youtube video of James Steele talking about Digital Performer at a recent MOTUNation event:

Re: resizing windows sooooo slooow
I don't want to rile anybody up, I'm just cracking up... This Kurt person took his bitching over to Gearslutz, where he is complaining about the rough treatment he got here. http://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-computers/513038-cant-believe-how-weak-motu-nation.html" onclick="window.open(t...

Re: ETA for the 64 bit version of DP?
There will be teething, actually, we're already teething. It would be helpful, though, for the industry to consolidate around 64 bit computing. I can't think of any computer use offhand that would need 64 bit RAM access more- but then again, I'm hardly familiar with any other professional level comp...

Re: ETA for the 64 bit version of DP?
FWIW, most VI's and plug-ins are not 64-bit yet and it will be some time before they are. So even if DP were 64-bit (as Sonar is now), unless you wanted to stick with just MOTU plug-ins and VI's, you'd be seriously hampered in the plug-in/VI department until all the developers catch up. Well, this ...

Re: Pro Tools unlocked, cracked.
I've read the linked articles and there's zero evidence in them that HD cards are artificially limited. The cracked native version apparently removes the known artificial track count/voices limitation inherent in all the prosumer versions of Pro Tools like LE an M Powered. Some one makes an illogic...

Re: Pro Tools unlocked, cracked.
Oh, sorry- misread. And I agree about Digidesign having taken this on with poor business practices. We'll see how the market responds, and that's the bottom line. Funny thing is, despite all this, they have been losing money for years. Maybe it's not so hard to understand- they've probably been losi...

Re: Pro Tools unlocked, cracked.
I didn't know that about the UAD cards. And I'm not saying that Avid has done anything illegal, they sold a product that worked as advertised, that's never illegal. However, there has been a lot of debate about whether in this current age of native processing power, whether or not an HD system is wo...

Re: Pro Tools unlocked, cracked.
I'm not sure either of you are getting my point. Or maybe you don't care, but here it is: with Digidesign having artificially limited the number of 'voices' that each HD card could allow, they made sure that a whole lot of folks had to buy two or even three to get the functionality that they could h...

Pro Tools unlocked, cracked.
I want to make clear first of all that this thread isn't so much about the ability to run cracked PT software without having a Digidesign interface as it is about what this illustrates about Digidesign's business practices. First read this: http://www.airusersblog.com/home-page/2010/5/23/pro-tools-h...

Re: Women and Car Maintenance
Good to know. I guess what I had heard might pertain to a little extra oil... I guess it seems obvious that a lot wouldn't be good for anything. I am right now replacing and engine as we speak, I'm having a 350 V8 put in my '70 GMC 1500 in lieu of the inline 6 250 that I did have. I went with a 7 qu...

Re: Women and Car Maintenance
I have a friend- male- who told me his car was overheating. So I begin asking about his water pump, can he see if that seems to be pumping. He doesn't know where that is or what it does. Fine. I ask a few more questions, about the hoses, when's the last time the thermostat was checked, and he doesn'...

Re: Anyone here use Drive Genius by Prosoft?
I'm having a hard time recalling exactly what Drive Genius exactly offers, but if defragmentation is the primary goal, try Northern Softworks Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner. It does all my Mac troubleshooting and maintenance (whatever Disk Utility can't offer). It's also very inexpensive, and the demo w...
