Re: Xeon X5680s Now $45... October 2018

I think it's time to upgrade my MacPro 4.1 (firm5.1) again, this time to 12-cores.

Any suggestions/opinions about chip availability/price in the current market?

Re: ISO EZ, DP-syncable external video player

Option 1: install DP on computer #2 to run video
Option 2: VideoSlave

Re: Avid/Euphonix Mix & Control - Not great with DP

I've had a full set of Euphonix Artist controllers since they were released by Euphonix. Never have they ever played nicely with DP. They'll probably work fine if I ever set up a PT print rig.

The Fans and the Furious

Hi all, Main machine is a cheese grater MacPro 4,1 flashed to 5,1 and upgraded to 8x3.33. I did the upgrade several years ago and everything has been working perfectly since. ....until this morning. Boot up the machine this morning and, all of a sudden, the fans (booster fans specifically) are runni...

Hey MLC, it's Craig. And you are correct, sir! Duh.

It was my Sherlock Jr concert two years ago in NY.

How goes Pan?

Re: Figure 53 Streamers: Print on Quicktime Video?

Used it a few years ago to prep the conductor film for a silent music concert. Had to set everything up in Streamers and then do a screen capture video of the whole film playing through. Not an elegant solution, but it worked. Hopefully there has been an update that would allow for a more direct wor...

Re: NAMM 2017 DP New Features Video

What was the "Expanding to multiple computer setups" item on the screen - right before David switched to demoing in DP?

Are they introducing a cubase-like system-link feature?

Re: Metropolis at LACMA Friday Oct 16

Or full composing, which last night was. There was one cornie there so he can report. I thought it went very well. I have a midnight gig the Sat. after T-day. Emo Phillips is co-hosting. You were terrific, MLC! I don't know how you do it, just going and going off the top of your head for 2 1/2 hour...

Re: He promised; He did it !

Interested to hear what you find, Doodles. I had hoped for some sort of track output/printing feature in DP9 like Steinberg has for nuendo/cubase. Bringing that feature alone would justify the cost of BC/Raven but the touchscreen would definitely be a fun bonus. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Re: CPU spikes with video

You won't get all the bells and whistles of VideoSlave, but DP and PT definitely will do it. I'd imagine any other pro-level DAW could handle it as well.

Re: DP9, So far so good!

Have they changed anything with folder operations?

I still think it would be great if the folder hierarchy stayed intact when merging something into a chunk.

Re: Whats best strategy for storing VIDEO files with a DP se

I keep em on a separate drive just for video while working. For archiving, the video(s) go in a Video Folder within the Project Archive Master Folder. Others include Cues/Sessions (production dp sessions), Early ideas (early sketch, rejected ideas DP sessions), Images, Contracts, Delivery, etc. Sent...

Re: wired trackpad

You don't even need to go to Yosemite. That's how the Bluetooth dongle is working here and I'm still back on 10.8. I'm guessing the new feature fixes the occasional boot issue I mentioned earlier.
