That's unfortunate. My UL mk3 hybrid has been rock solid the last year and a half, as long as I'm not bus powering it the macbook pro when on battery power only.

It may be that the audio file headers are missing? If you know what format, samplerate and bitrate they were, you might have luck making copies and re-defining their headers with soundhack. Just a shot in the dark.

Do other FW devices work? If you daisy chain another FW device through the 828, does it show up? What does it say for firewire in System Profiler when the 828 is plugged in?
