Re: Equipment Needed Mixing To Quad Or Surround
It was actually the ADAT connections part of Mike's responses that sort of confused me. I was asking if two 8pres could be made to function as the multi-channel output of a surround system, or if I would need something more specifically suited to the task. I was purposefully keeping it somewhat vagu...

Equipment Needed Mixing To Quad Or Surround
I'm somewhat of a newbie to doing multichannel mixes, and while I understand how DP handles quad and surround bundles, I need to know what equipment I need to actually send the audio to my sound system. Can I use two 8pre modules (which I already own) to send the audio, or do I need something more t...

Re: Missing Plug-Ins
Thanks for your responses. I did a re-install, and they showed up. I don't know why they went missing, but at least it's resolved for now. (I had to do a Melodyne-heavy project recently, and I disabled most of the plug-ins to optimize that. Maybe that had something to do with the issue...) I'll upda...

Missing Plug-Ins
Help! All of my audio plug-ins have vanished. I have been running DP 8.05 with DP 7.24 present on my MacBook Pro. The audio plug-ins list in 8.05 is completely blank, but the list in 7.24 is fully populated. I want to remove 7.24 from my MBP, but I can't proceed without knowing where the plug-ins be...

Re: Exporting Individual Tracks After Melodyne
That sounds like it might do the trick. It will briefly double the number of tracks, but then I can delete the original tracks (which I have backed up, anyway), which will get Melodyne out of the chain.
I'll give it a try.
Thanks,
Lindy

Re: Exporting Individual Tracks After Melodyne
Thanks, David, for your reply. I'm not actually looking for a stereo mixdown. I want individual tracks that are tuned from the Melodyne tracks so that I can continue working on them prior to mixdown. So if I start with 17 tracks going through Melodyne, I want to end up with 17 tuned-up tracks withou...

Exporting Individual Tracks After Melodyne
I'm using DP8 to record a big band. Intonation in the band was a fairly big issue, so I've been using Melodyne to bring things back into tune. Doing it on so many (17) tracks, though, is dominating my MacBook Pro's processors. In order to streamline things, I had hoped that exporting the tuned track...

Re: Soundbite Tempo Across Multiple Tracks
If the band is following the drummer's tempo changes, it might be easier to do the tempo adjustments on a two track mix instead of the original tracks. This is a good point. Thanks. One result of the drummer's inconsistency is that it would occasionally throw the band off, making them stumble over ...

Soundbite Tempo Across Multiple Tracks
Hi - I've been dealing with a recording of a large (17-piece) band that had a less-than-totally-steady drummer. After looking through the manual, searching the forum and viewing video tutorials, I'm not finding the answer to my issue, and I'm hoping someone can help. I've been able to detect beats i...

Controlling DP In Live Theater
I'm using DP in a live theater situation in which I need to be able to make volume adjustments to soundbites while playing keyboards. I'm playing four separate channels of pre-recorded audio, and I have a master fader for all the tracks so that I (hopefully) can hit a "Fade Out" button whi...

Using MOTU 8pre & Mackie ProFX12 Together?
I'd like to use my MOTU 8pre (Firewire) and a Mackie ProFX12 mixing board (USB) simultaneously. I can set one or the other up successfully, but I cannot seem to get them both to show up as input options when they are plugged in at the same time. Am I trying to do the impossible, or is there somethin...

I was going through some stuff and found an item from the Dark Ages that I thought might be worth sharing.

MIDI Patch Thru Default Setting
Does anyone know if there's a way to override the default setting for MIDI Patch Thru? The default setting is ON, and I'd like it to be OFF. I seached the manual and this forum with no immediate answer.
Thanks.

ALSO, can you not have volume show on each track in the sequence window? (I could in PT but... that's PT I guess) Describing it might be difficult... The short answer is yes, you can have to volume show on each track in your sequence. But if you do not enter a value, it will default to 0vu. In the ...
